I think you’re assuming the familiar connection between this new character and anduin lothar is a lot closer than it actually is, if it turns out to be connected at all.
And also assuming that the things that characters say in the lore are more chiseled in stone then they could have known.
If one of anduins ancestors way back had another kid that was the progenitor of this character and they disappeared with no knowledge of their whereabouts for several generations then the people around would assume they died off.
Considering you won’t entertain the idea that when people said he was the last of his line that it might have just been an assumption given the information that they had as anything less than a retcon then You’re probably gonna have a bad time.
Didn’t the Arathi travel off generations ago? So if there was a split in the Lothar family, some could have traveled with those leaving and some stayed. Anduin Lothar would be the last of the line that stayed. He doesn’t have to be the last Lothar. She is most likely descended from the line that traveled.
They probably didn’t even know about each other. It isn’t uncommon for one branch of a family to become estranged from another.
The thing about Lore and History is that it can change as more information comes to be known. Even in the real world, this happens all the time.
Well, like Mag pointed out, apparently there is a very detailed family tree for the Lothar family so if one of the boys jumped ship that would have been annotated.
We just went through Dawn of the Infinites and watched Chromie play even MORE mish-mash patty-whack with the lore and the timelines than may have happened in Shadowlands. I would absolutely not be surprised we get an alternate Lothar history because bronzedust got in someone’s eyes and they hooked up with an alternate wife from a different multiverse, but had a child in this time line explanation.
As the game grows, retcons happen. Anduin Lothar having a long lost relative generations back isn’t as lore breaking as it was the Jailer all the long.
I’m guessing Anduin Wrynn will meet a Lothar, since he’s named after one. That’s probably the reasoning, someone thought it’d be cool to have him meet the family of his namesake.
Off topic, but it is interesting that that model has pointy ears. If they add Arathi humans as an allied race, I’m sure a lot of people will rejoice as they can finally live out their half-elf RP fantasies in WoW.
Maybe! I guess that designates the Nerubians as a Horde allied race. I’m sure a lot of players would be okay with that. As a knock off drow elf, I’m okay welcoming our future spider overlords to the Horde.
