Who actually wants faction separation removed?

Me. Lets be honest, there is no RP left in WoW. Even BFA which was supposed to be horde vs alliance Blizzard chickened out and made it all PVE.

Its just healthier for the game to merge factions at this point, and easier for Blizzard.

If we wanted no faction wars then we would have played my little pony

It shouldn’t be a complete removal, I’d rather they spend their programming resources on game play rather than redoing all the questing. They could even simply unify the LFG function so people could write things like “No alliance scum” in their title. If we allow the other faction to die out due to imbalance there won’t be enough people to kill.

That’s what some of these people want to turn WoW into where we all hold hands and work together, it’s barftastic.

I just don’t see the point of it anymore. World pvp is dead, all anybody cares about is grinding for gear. At this point the factions are just an unnecessary barrier and the alliance is dying cause all the raiders are horde. They either need to bring back world pvp and give people incentives to participate in it, or drop the barrier.

I think it is possible to give this to those that want it without forcing it on those that don’t. We’ve already established now that there is tension in both the Horde and Alliance, with some people wanting to end the constant war and others wanting to continue.

So let’s say they start a questline where you either:
A. Speak with Anduin and agree to be his emissary to the Horde or
B. Speak to Genn and agree to help him undermine Anduin’s stupid scheme to be friends with the horde.

Same thing on the Horde side. You either work with Baine as an emissary to the Alliance or work with “fill-in-the-blank” leader who doesn’t want peace.

Then you get a special tabard. So long as your character is wearing that tabard, you are treated as “unfriendly” but not “hostile” with the other faction. This would allow you to access quests for that faction and earn rep.

You could even require the Diplomat achievement or something to open this option for players that want this.

Those who aren’t interested just keep doing what they are doing.

At this point, it is possible to allow players the option. The infrastructure is there. Heck, you wouldn’t even need to reprogram a lot of the quests. Maybe just change a line of dialogue.

Original Horde quest: Go to X Alliance fort nearby and kill 10 soldiers FOR THE HORDE.

New “Diplomat” quest: Go to X Alliance fort nearby and kill 10 soldiers because they are traitors to the Alliance and refuse to return to Stormwind under the King’s orders.

Original Alliance Quest: Go to X Horde spy camp nearby and collect the spy notes.

New Diplomat Quest: Go to X Horde spy camp nearby and collect the spy notes because they are plotting against Baine.

It would be PAINFULLY SIMPLE to do and have no impact on players who don’t want that option.

And if you remove the tabard once you are inside an opposing faction area and attack people, the questline fails and you can’t retake it (to prevent PVP abuses).

I’d not want it removed. But there can be peace and communication, dungeon queues mixed and raiding without having to enter the other people’s city or play as a Draenei of the Horde.

It doesn’t have to be removed entirely, but should only exist on a PvP basis with players opting into whichever faction they want to represent.

You also have to remember that subs are not what they used to be. So wasting resources on 2 separate factions currently is not the greatest idea.

I don’t want it removed but I want cross faction grouping enabled via the LFG/Communities system. Nothing else in the game has to change.

I don’t want factions to be combined, but the ability to pve together wouldn’t break anything. We’ve had so many common enemies it would make sense more than anything at this point. Plus, if having the ability to pvp together isn’t game breaking, something similar for pve shouldn’t be either.

I don’t want it removed. I just think there should be an option for cross-faction play for those that want it. On some of my characters, it would “make sense” because of how I see those characters.

My DK, whose first introduction to the Alliance was having FOOD THROWN AT HER and basically being cussed out, has since become this exalted hero of over 50 different factions. She is focused on bigger threats and thinks the war between the two factions is enabling those bigger threats. So logically she would want to stop all the constant warring.

My night elf druid is NEVER going to forgive the horde for
well
anything. They are destructive to the environment and, even though I am suppose to think what happened was all Sylvanas’ fault, plenty of non-forsaken went right along with her with those plans. So she has no interest in playing nice with the horde.

My goblin mage doesn’t really CARE about the war per se, but doesn’t see the point in getting involved in stopping it.

I don’t want it removed. It has its place in PVP and War Mode. But it should be relaxed for PvE.

and then theres that, lol

Looking to many examples in real life of brutal enemies during WW2 becoming great allies today really makes me wonder why WoW has never gone down this path. I think the main reason they are probably afraid to have the horde and alliance ally and be able to cross faction content is because future stories might need to end this and they know players would be furious if you tried to take that away after a time.

I’m honestly going by dnd logic with races in wow since wow is just a 8 part long campaign. Also doesn’t help that they borrowed a lot from the forgotten realms

I don’t want it COMPLETELY removed, what I personally think they should do is make it so that we can go to our faction’s embassy and choose to temporarily become an Ambassador to the other faction, making us friendly to NPCs of both factions and preventing the use of both War Mode and /pvp until we turn it off. As an ambassador we should be able to complete all PvE quests available to either faction (quests that involve killing faction-aligned NPCs would temporarily make those specific mobs aggressive to you), group up with any player for dungeons and raids, and join cross-faction communities.

I wouldn’t say Germany and the us are great allies. They are definitely peaceful but that’s about it. Like I said my stance on the matter changed a bit, I’m fine with pve content being softened a bit with the faction restriction. I still don’t want cross faction guilds and not being able to go to each other major city’s
