The Ember Ward was retaliation for a Nathrezim incursion against the Light. Nathrezim pushed. Naaru pushed back.
Actually, what happened with the Sir Denatrious after SL? He been saved, but where is he now? They teased his return.
It was implied that the Dreadlords were going to take Remornia (who has Daddy D’s essence inside her. OH MY!) to Zovaal. Given that Remornia says that Zovaal can restore him at the end of Denathrius’ encounter in Castle Nathria.
Which is kinda funny as Zovaal was like “oh Denathrius is trapped in a sword? Oh no. Anyway” before the 9.1 stuff came out.

This all speculation, but perhaps after writing Denathrius off when he was presented with the opportunity Zovaal helped release him ensure that the Nathrezim remained as useful pawns. As for why he wasn’t in Zereth Mortis, perhaps Denathrius had to recover and did so at a safer area.
What I find even more hilarious, if Zovaal discarding Mueh’zhala. It was Mueh’zhala who gave Zovaal the Odyn’s eye that would become the Eye of the Jailer and convinced the dying Vol’jin to name Sylvanas Warchief, which led to Sylvanas trusting him since his “prophecy” had proved true, and starting the Fourth War on said trust. Without Mueh’zhala it wouldn’t have happened.
Zovaal had 0% interest in restoring Denathrius, but perhaps he was stringing the Dreadlords along with promises of doing so if they served loyally until his plan was completed.
Then he went and died, so perhaps they left for the Nether to go find some other method to do so. Next stop, Demon Mode Denathrius.

I think the “star” or “light” that the Arathi worship or look to is Sargeras sword tip.

The star was there before Sargeras stabbed the planet. When he stabbed Azeroth, it was the first time the crystal turned dark.
