Which type of content would you rather have

yes they tried doing that an expansion each year thing in WoD and decided they couldn’t do it so we got a 2 year expansion with one year’s worth of content.

Huh?

MoP was released in 2012. WoD was released in 2014. Legion was released in 2016. By my calculation, thats a series of 2 year gaps between those 3 expansions (give or take a month or so). The length of the expansion was the same, it was just that the content within that length of time was significantly cut back. And the reason for that was very obvious: subscription income plummeted. It was the last time subscription numbers were mentioned because of the effect that had on their investors, not to mention the player customers. The expansion suffered with a lot of problems, aside from the obvious garrison issues. Its story was lackluster, the was very little content to do other than grinding rep and doing dungeons over and over, playing the ever popular Trashcan and, if I remember correctly, a single daily quest. And when they cut the final raid tier it dropped even further. It wasnt a matter of trimming for time, it was a matter of dropping work on a losing product to concentrate on the next big earner.

I have a clear memory of Ion or maybe JAB stating that it had been their intent to try and stick to a 12 monthly release but they werent able to do it. Why should they try and provide us with new content when they can just feed us dribs and drabs of current stuff and selfie cameras and tweaks to pet battles and character customization and stretch out the time to milk everything they can from what is already available.

yes but that is because WoD was intended to be only one year - they couldn’t get legion ready on time so it ended up being 2 years. They stated they thought they could do one year expansions but they couldn’t.

exactly. Don’t understand the dispute then, we remember the same thing.
