Trying to decide which one to go with. Mountain Thane seems incredibly fun and it appears like it would work in all content besides high end raiding. am I correct in that thinking? The other spec seems like it could have some serious dmg that could make it a pvp sword and board spec while at the same time being the best spec for actual high end raiding. am I right in this thinking? and which hero spec are you liking?

Mountain Thane is graphically great, and works with some lightning mogs nicely. But i find myself preferring Colossus much more… Being able to hold onto the buff for all 10 stacks just to rack up some insanely powerful Revenges (as opposed to risking a badly placed Demolish)… Veteran Vitality and Battle-Scarred Veteran together are very strong and have saved my group from prog boss wipes… The extra CDR for Shockwave is delightful… Running Thunderous Roar is never a bad idea, but if your feeling froggy and go with Spear, its gotten me some very chunky 4m-5m demolish crits (got an 8mill on the first boss in Mists)

Colossus sounds good on paper, but in actuality it’s pretty terrible because Thane gets a billion rage in comparison. It’s a more aggressive spec, but I don’t think it’s viable because of the ungodly survival you gave up for it. It’s more viable in raids, but I think only Thane is being played in progression.
I like Colossus in farm content, but mostly just Timewalking and random heroics for a bag. Personally, I think Demolish is gimped, even for Arms.

I barely ever use demolish to be honest. unless its single target and i can line it up. I prefer keeping the damage buff to revenge and (i think? probably mistaken here?) shield slam. for consistant aggro.

You can stack up Colossal Might very quickly, and reset Demolish pretty fast. The AoE component on Demolish straight up needs to be bigger, as the payoff for sending that over keeping up your 10 stack for rolling huge Revenge damage (or the bleed buff if running Arterial) is not good enough right now.

Its sounding like Mountain Thane is the preferred method for most. Good. I have been having a blast with it and while Im not doing a crap done of dmg it has been enough to do what I wanted with this guy and breeze through tier 8 delves.
Pretty sure it’s the more rng out of the two. I was originally a Thane man myself, but have been team Colossus for some time now. I pvp exclusively, though.

Pretty much this. the only RNG for Colossus is hoping that the target of your DEmolish doesnt step away or die too early for the big wallop. 
As Prot, you cover it by using Shield Charge first. Even on a 50% stun dr you should be able to pull it off. The cooldowns line up perfectly and even if Demolish cools down a little faster due to Dominance of the Colossus, that just means you get a bit more uptime on harder hitting Revenges and Bleeds.
As a dwarf, I had to choose Mountain Thane. It’s very fun and effective. I like Thunder Blast dealing aoe lightning damage and adding Rend to my opponents. I’ve only done heroic dungeons and killed some rares and the world boss, but I’m doing well in that type of content.
