Which spec do you like and why?

Druid: Resto and Balance.

Warrior: I prefer fury to arms. I do occasionally do prot, but Prideful kinda killed my desire to tank and I didn’t pick it up again in later seasons.

Priest: Holy. I can’t get the hang of disc and only do shadow for questing

Paladin: Ret or Prot. Not a fan of healing on a paladin (did too much of that in TBC anyways)

Mage: Fire. I can’t seem to ever get good dps out of frost. Find arcane boring.

Warlock: I was destro for most of S4, but with the new talent trees, I think I’m gonna go back to yeeting imps at bad guys. Never liked Affliction, too much dot watching.

Monk: Monk is mostly windwalker. I don’t mind brewmaster, though I don’t tank much (see above comment about Prideful). Last time I tried MW, it was a mana drain, but that was also 9.0 so . . . maybe it got better? Monk is one of my least played classes regardless.

Hunter: BM is great, I also enjoy MM, but I can’t have the pets I like as MM. Not really fond of the changes to the BM tree though, will have to look into it further and see what I can get at level 70.

Rogue: Outlaw is my jam

Demon Hunter: Havoc. Again with what I said about tanking

Death Knight. I named her “Iceicebaby” so she’s gotta be frost (and under pressure). I have another DK who’s unholy and I don’t really like it. Also never been a fan of tanking as a blood dk.

Shaman: Elemental. Enh seems to have these weird gaps where everything is on cooldown. Resto is a fun healing spec.

Vanilla Ice must be proud.

:joy:

Toss up between my Destro Warlock and my Blood DK.

Destro is fun because you smash monster Chaos Bolts in to mob faces. Plus you get the pet to go off and keep mobs busy while you’re picking flowers or looting chests, or even if you just want to keep that elite at bay as you run away.

Blood DK is fun because he’s a mob black hole. Jump in, round up 10, 20, 30,000 mobs and just start smashing stuff. What they lack in raw DPS they make up for in survivability. Soon, you’re just standing in the center of a pile of sparkling corpses (AOE looting :+1: ).

Just don’t kill elites with them, boy that takes forever.

Fire > Arcane > Frost

Although I’ll play which ever is best for the fight/raid.

As far as alts go I just FoTM reroll to whatever blasts.

For me it’s whatever spec feels good to play, and doesn’t feel super underpowered. Right now that is my WW monk, 2h Frost Obliterate build isn’t possible, and something about the Retribution Paladin just feels off to me atm.

Maybe they will come good when they get more talent points and get more stuff in the trees, but until then, they just don’t feel as fun as they use to.

Protection Warrior. Have played tanks in almost every game that has them. Not that I tank anything anymore, I just like slamming things with a shield. I mainly play now to just collect stuff and kill time.

My two favorite specs to play are BM Hunter and Fire Mage. I just love the whole pet and archer aesthetic and gameplay. The rotation is fairly simple and doesn’t require a lot of complication to do. Same with Fire mage…you blow stuff up from afar with fiery bolts…that hit hard. INSTA CAST PYRO!!! BOOOOM

I’ve only logged into my Priest since the change, and I can’t sing enough praises for all three specs. I know some players dislike Holy and/or Shadow, but I truly love all three specs, and I applaud the Priest designers for being so creative.

Disc. can choose to be either a Light DPS, a Light and Shadow mix, or total Shadow DPS. This spec is ridiculously fun right now.

Holy Spec has a fun DPS build! I can’t believe it, I can do some decent damage and do some deep heals at the same time.

With Shadow Spec, I no longer have to do Void Form nor Surrender to Madness. This alone is all of the wins. Now, I’m the master of Shadowy Apparitions and I can call a Thing from Beyond for more dakka! Also, shout out to the designer who gave us an AoE Vampiric Touch, that speeds the spec up so nicely. All three Priest specs feel really good, and their design team should be very proud of themselves: the class is fun and creative. This is what WoW has been missing.

On the opposite end, are Paladins. I usually main Paladin, but Paladins look incredibly lame next to everyone else, because they received next to nothing new. Our designers were either too focused on M+ and/or have zero class creativity. Or, they are wholly nonexistent, and the tree was copy/pasted together by an AI. It sucks to say, but until we get an actual update and redesign for Paladins, I’m skipping them. It’s been the same bland flavor for the past seven years.

I’m testing my Monk and my Shaman out next, I will decide between them and my Priest on who I’ll main this expansion.

i’m a big fan of outlaw and brewmaster. they both just feel good to play.

edit: honorable mention for mistweaver

I like whichever spec is easy to play well.

Holy paladin is the only spec thats ever felt fun and fulfilling to me. I don’t mind survival, assasination, frost mage and disc priest, but its just not the same. When i’m on a holy paladin i’m like this glorious and shiny knight running at people throwing hammers at them and no other spec or class compares to that for me

I definitely fell in love when holy paladin could be a shockadin though. Its not been the same since we lost denounce and harsh words. I guess i always played my paladin like a ranged caster dps with offheals and still wish that was viable

I’m the same for both of those classes. <3

Healer, Holy priest! Not a fan of tanking.

These talent trees and being shorted 10 points because we can’t level to 70 yet is kind of making it difficult for me to make a final decision on what to main in DragonFlight. Sure I know 5 more points in each tree is just 5 points but in most cases it is an important ability and rotation changer that we are being locked out from.

Just it is going to suck to hit 70 to find out I would rather play something else at the start of this next expansion. But so far it looks like this DK or an Enhancement Shaman.

I think my favorite thing about holy paladins is that when they’re good, I can be as bad as usual but not die within three and a half giggles!

I miss Paladins having Harsh Words SO MUCH. Changing between using it to attack and healing your party just felt right.

This was how it always was with the original trees, back in the day. You’ll get used to it pretty quick, no worries  I’ve never leveled a DK, but I’ve been hearing lots of good stuff for their current trees so far. I can’t wait to dig into my Shaman either!

There was this human female paladin that used to hang around goldshire back in cata and they wore the cataclysmic elite set (my favourite set) and one day the horde attacked and they single handedly repelled the invasion and kept us scrubs alive. That was when i just knew i’d never be able to play another class again (i was on a 70 paladin at the time still learning about the class) and i just wanted to embody everything that holy paladin did :sob:

I’m all about mobility. Main is a Druid (mostly resto), alt dh when I want to tank or dps. I like resto because I can heal on the move. Mobility mobility mobility for me.

Prot warrior because i love shield charge S2.

I felt that way about a DK tank who basically half-soloed a boss in a 23 after we all died! I don’t want to tank but if I did, I would want to be that immortal cute mode DK!

Enhancement/ele because the visuals are awesome, it’s fun to play and both have some decent skill checks to keep things interesting as you go. They also felt the most ‘complete’ throughout the great pruning.

All three warlock specs because they’re all different enough to make maining it fun long-term, though a lot of that was dilluted a bit with SL. (Pretty much all of them revolved around dumping into a burst window, and aff was made into a burst spec for some reason.), though DF does a good job with giving Aff and demo some identity back.

Survival because it’s fast paced, has explosions, and is pretty fun to play. I don’t like the other specs. BM is too simple, and MM is way more boring than it was in Legion.
