WOTLK was like AJFA for Metallica. The last great album of the best era. Even with the bass missing.
I would say Wrath because it was the apex of the design style that the dev team had started in Vanilla. It still had lots of RPG elements and a more grounded story as well, which was nice. A lot of the armour sets from that time period are also pretty timeless.
The playerbase was also less obsessed with percentages and min/maxing. It was before being able to easily swap specs, though we did get dual-spec later in the expansion. People werenât hopping from spec to spec like sheep because one spec was slightly better at DPS, many would stubbornly stick to their favourite and make guides to work around the issues, which forced the devs to fix specs more often in more creative ways, because they knew people werenât just going to hop to the âbestâ one.
Edit: To give an example, Arms warriors were fairly subpar at the start of Wrath, but still had many people who refused to change their spec, and one guy made an entire guide on the Warrior forums that showed how to spec and gear to close the gap with Fury. This resulted in the devs literally overhauling Arms mid expansion to be better, because they saw people still liked the spec and wanted to play it.
That post hits some of the oft-forgotten sour points of Wrath pretty good. People seem to forget how poorly received ToC was after what was widely regarded as the best raid ever made (Ulduar).
That said, I still lean toward Wrath as a whole, mostly because they really nailed the vibe of the expansion. Legion was well designed, but felt⌠disjointed at the end.

I did love wrath but Legion had me way more emotionally involved.
Itâs hard to compete with Ulduar though.
Gotta say Wrath because I was there for it all. Didnât come to Legion till 7.3.
Legion would have been better if professions were like the classic era of wow, I didnât get to see all of it but Legion had almost everything going for it.
I have an ex girlfriend for each of those expansions so Im going to have to go with MOP
i liked WoD a lot too. wasnât subbed for all of legion or wrath, but i was for all of WoD. idk why dude is being aggressive with you over a difference in personal opinion. i wonder if he would try to dox me if i said my favorite expansion was, and likely always will be, cata.

What is wrong with slight variations on a theme . THat still seams to work for rogues , mages and warlocks still. Maybe we need a ranged rogue spec or melee mage and warlock specs.
Balance is an illusion there has never been any form of class or spec balance in this game and that has never stopped them from adding classes. All a 4th hunter spec would do if done right is add back aspects of the old range survival hunter . They can call it something different like Arcane Archer .
Hey after some of the more recent ones like Preheat and Tupac ,I kind of miss Ralph at least his trolling had some substance to it . Those other 2 are like watching

Oh, it is. That and being bookended by 2 disastrous expacs. Somehow, the fact that Legion is what sparked the dumpster fire of Systems Overload is ignored by most.

To be honest, I quit twice during Northrend due to getting bored with the quest lines and never achieved level 80. When Cataclysm came out, I rejoined about 6 months in and since I could not recover my old account I started over and finally managed to slog by way through Northrend.
I rarely do end game content so cannot truly give feedback on that. I did manage to get through Broken Isles all right but it was so different from Northrend I dare say you are comparing apples to oranges.
Wrath was better because less reliance on RNG
