I don’t know if they just ported over the old system from s11 cata or not but s9 cata mmr was crazy high where folks were getting 3k which MIGHT have been the first 3k rated players ever? I’m not sure the point is mmr was massively inflated s9 but when I played in s11 gladiator cutoff for BG9 was like 2370ish maybe. So yeah the current mmr is actually kind of in line with how it was s11 cata which is the patch we’re on. But there’s also the point that EVERYONE and I mean EVERYONE is way better today than they were in OG cata. So yeah, its tough. If you want the 2200 weapons work towards earning them. If you do end up getting them it will be an achievement instead of an algorithm.
Found the Vegan PvP player who thinks what he likes matters. Rating doesn’t matter and no one is hard stuck in this game. Arena players are so predictable. I’m sure next you will deliever some rant about how Arena is blah blah blah. No one cares.

Don’t be angry that PvP players aren’t interested in Arena. It’s a bad format for PvP especially MMO PvP and why only 5% of people engage in it. If you like it coolzies however drop the Veganism attitude where you think it’s the best. You aren’t converting anyone.

No my takes are the majority since the overwhelming majority of PvP players don’t care or participate in Arena. Again you not accepting this fact is that Veganism mentality kicking in.
I’m not bashing Arena it’s just not popular, never has been or will be because it’s a terrible format. There are players that enjoy it and that’s perfectly fine. It just doesn’t appeal to the majority. So when this niche minority group of Arena players start raving about Rating and Arena is peak PvP… No one cares. It’s YOUR thing. You care about it, we (the majority) don’t.

My man, not a single arena player I know is raving and bragging about how amazing arena pvp is.
There’s not a single arena streamer that can break 1k viewers consistently day to day, it’s a shriveling playerbase that dies as it’s aging playerbase gets older
Just let us enjoy our little game mode in peace. There’s 0 reason for you to come in here and be hostile about arena

I’ve played since TBC but WoD was the glory days of PvP. We had Ashran, great WPvP and BGs were lit. Not to mention Glad stance.
Your memory is very foggy. What happened was Vegan Arena players were being their typical if you don’t have rating you can’t comment and you don’t PvP. So they challenged me to get 2k in Arena. I accepted the challenge and I did it in 2’s. Then of course they said it doesn’t count it’s 2’s cause that’s how Arena players are. So then I did it in 3’s playing Prot TSG. Proving my point and winning the challenge.
Most PvP players don’t care about Arena that’s why it doesn’t have high participation. It’s not an appealing format and also not a watchable product for PvP fans which is why it failed as an Esport. This has been covered many times.
Again I’m not trying to be rude but you Arena players make it difficult. It’s perfectly fine to love Arena just don’t gaslight us and think it’s the end all be all of PvP when most PvP players don’t care. That’s all. Have a nice day.

I still think arena has a place in pvp and is responsible for legends like reckful, sodapoppin and mitch jones gaining fame. WoW arena in mist of pandaria was the top viewed game on twitch for probably the entire expansion

It shouldn’t be a focus at all. Arena is a mini-game and side event of PvP. It can have a place for people who enjoy it of course. It’s just that isn’t very many people.
I’m not sure what you aren’t getting. This is an MMO so focus on MMO PvP not the mini-game of Arena which the format doesn’t work in this game. That’s why balance has always been impossible because Classes aren’t supposed to be fighting 2v2 or 3v3. It’s really not hard to understand.
I do think a deathmatch Arena type format could have a place just not the current version which is very far off base. Then focus on PvP for the much larger PvP player base that wants MMO PvP, objective, class role based.
There is a reason why PvP players seek other games or other formats for PvP. Blizz was just too stubborn to never make the changes and continued on with a dead end that is Arena. It’s just sad to see as a long time fan of PvP (Been PvPing about 30 years) WoW PvP could of been so much more.

Well if Arena was entertaining people would participate in it and watch it. It’s not hence the problem. It’s a game and entertainment is critical. The AWC should of been cancelled a long time ago. Blizz needs to find a better format.
