Thrall is a retired warchief, duh. He ain’t got time to be slaying monsters and deposing crap leaders, he has a wife and kid. He’s probably living with them at a nice beach home, separate from all the war concerns of Azeroth.

I’m almost certain Thrall’s situation was meant to reflect Metzen’s, in a way.

…Which is to say, Thrall is absolutely in his boxer shorts drinking a beer right now, having peaced out with a “call me from the Shadowlands, bruv”.

I love metzen, he was a great voice actor, but hold auditions, and replace the actor with the person that gets the closest. He just vanishes? You can’t just get rid of an iconic character without wrapping up his story. Even varian got SOMETHING.

I would scoff at the thought of ever logging into my Alliance characters again if Metzen returns so Thrall/Go’el can become Warchief again.

I thought things were going well after Vol’jin replaced Garrosh, but the poor guy only lasted an expansion.

Thrall is a symbol of authentic Warcraft, and that is why we haven’t really heard much from him since MOP.

Obviously Thrall will never be warchief again, the title of warchief is a death sentence. The only reason he was able to survive it before was because he was Metzen’s favorite and Metzen can’t protect him anymore

Thrall has a wife and kids now, he can’t afford to die

Metzen made it pretty clear at blizzcon that he was waiting but it was up to Actiblizzard, on if the horde were going to need/use him (get Thrall back).

And then Actiblizzard went and did this whole article about Sylvanas being their wifu and blah blah.

Thrall died after Wrath and was replaced by Goel his evil twin.

Also I dont want him back unless hes going to be the Warcraft 3 Thrall we all love.

Thrall got a wife and kid so he quit WoW and try to look for a better job with a more stable income. Sadly he can’t list “Warchief of the Horde” on his resume.

Also he wife threw away his hammer and all the other collectible toys in their room.

  1. Metzen retired.

  2. Shortly after retiring, he got back surgery. That took him out of commission for a while.

  3. Probably took a lot of time out of his first year of freedom to spend with family, go through counseling for his bad anxiety, etc.

  4. Thrall himself is going through a personal crisis. It’s plain to see that he’s probably not going to be doing much until that’s resolved.

  5. Blizzard tends to do this thing where if they have a lore character in an expansion they tend to either be non-existent in the next or drastically different. This is probably due to the two separate teams that work on expansions - thus, they aren’t able to focus on all of the lore characters at once.

him and rexxar are going to recruit mok’nathal. Rexxars dad Leoroxx and thrall grandpa Garad were allies way back when. leoroxx is an old, isolationist chieftain by this point. if he dies, the mok’nathal will have no reason to remain in outland. plus thrall and jaina got beef.
