For $3.99 a month and additional $0.75 a day, and $0.13 per additional minute, I will fight for that discount the OP deserves.
Even if it takes a whole year.

Blizzard should be paying you to play.
Those businesses aren’t just giving discounts. They’re making long-term investments in that student’s continued patronage. We’re creatures of habit, so a poor college student who is raised on Microsoft Office eventually graduates and pushes to use Microsoft Office in their workplace. Blizzard doesn’t need to offer student-specific incentives because they don’tt benefit from them. No college graduate is going to push to make everyone play WoW at their workplace.
No, most businesses do not offer student discounts. In fact, a Google search turned up precisely zero student discount results for ANY online game.
While true, I played wow all through law school and still graduated magna cumLaude (can’t believe the forums won’t let me write those two words separately). Once I figured out that you only need to study right before finals, I would just cancel my sub for 2-3 weeks at the end of each semester.
I didn’t play video games or watch TV during college . I had to pay my own way back then and didn’t have time for games.
As long as they also have discounts for senior citizens. And working people. And those who have families. And the disabled. And people who…
I qual for all those and more…62 yrs old…Navy Veteran…and Disabled Veteran where’s my discount…
you’re a college student… why should you get a discount.
They should pay you to play!
“I put three pallets on the truck to Blue Cross once a week. They use a lot of paper.”
“Okay, I’m going to ask you something and I want you to be honest. What is a pallet?”
On the off chance that you fail a job interview because your Raider IO score was too low, perhaps Blizzard will reconsider the discount thing.
I, for one, am not anticipating this as a thing.
Wow token for game time is the discount
Name a major MMO or Subscription Based Video game that does this.
All things considered, WoW is a VERY cheap hobby compared to many alternate forms of entertainment. Going out to the movies, which do have student discounts in some places, can cost upwards of a full month of game time just for experiencing one ~1 1/2 to 2hr movie.
While I know college expenses are rough, being a student is hard and there is quite a bit of student debt, WoW is already a pretty darn cheap form of entertainment with a low barrier to entry and one that can run on even a potato of a computer. I’m still running WoW off an old AM3 Processor (AMD FX-8320 to be exact), several generations old GFX Card, and non-modern format ram. It’s not the most enjoyable experience in large scale situations (Epic BG’s and Raids kill me some times) but everything else runs nice and smooth at fairly decent settings.
While I feel for your struggles as a college student I disagree that WoW should have a discount for College Students. That’s all without even getting into the fact that it would be hard to regulate and determine who is and is not actually a legitimate student or any of the systems that would have to be put in place on that side of things.
Please tell me this means that there is a market for an IHOP or Cracker Barrel-based MMO
It’s called having higher education and greater chance of a successful life. You need to fix your priorities unless you are majoring in gender studies, then I would have to agree with you.
My taxes already pay for you, nah…
There should be a discount on subs (half off) for college students
I don’t get a discount at my grocery store, or coffee shop, or barber, or car mechanic, or rent, or (name a thousand things), and I have a student ID as well at a university.
In fact, even on campus I don’t get discounts.
Oh, the humanity!
You’ve got to be kidding…
Probably has to do with the fact that WoW is so far removed from education–
Hey now, come on. I just learned that you can hit people with big floppy fishes like from your Ed, Edd n Eddy. It’s very educational! /j
The sub hasn’t gone up to compensate for inflation–
I’ve never liked the idea of using inflation to justify things as being cheap or expensive or what have you. Because regardless if it’s $10 cheaper, or $5 cheaper, or expensive or what have you, you’re still paying $15. It reminds me of the journalists and/or CEO’s trying to justify the $70 price tag we have in this video game generation and trying to tell us it’s much cheaper with inflation. It’s still $70 regardless how you look at it, and you still need to pay $70.
Plus, it feels like it’s taking that price into a bubble and ignoring wages and such.
