Play them then.
But for MMO, WoW dominated then and after 20 years, arguably still dominating right now.

Why do I get the feeling you didnât read my whole post?
edit: I donât play WoW because I think it has a lot of players
Iâd play this game even if it were single player
If this many things are bothering you, itâs probably something thatâs not even in the list and youâre just not sure where to point your frustration. Not minimizing anything you said. Thereâs something game wide that likely annoys you and it feels like all these other things are the problem⌠but whatever is actually the problem happens to be IN all of these things.
I hope the team can figure out what it is and remedy it, because Iâve seen a lot of people with laundry lists of frustration. None of them sound like the real issue, but they definitely point in aggregate to a real issue gamewide.
If I picked one thing you said that was closest to the real problem, Iâd choose this:
The bubble burstâŚ
Itâs over
The end is here.
Armageddon time
lmao this was way funnier than it needed to be idk why
The big green portal probably gave it away sadly. Let loose Legion 2.0 upon us!!!
I Bet this is the literal description of the majority of the player base!
I play the game solo. Why do i play the game solo? I donât really like the community. Iâm not saying everyone is bad, there are a lot of nice players out there. I have a hard time weeding through everyone to find them. I use the MMO aspect when i go to a populated capital. Since there is a sign of life i can still have that MMO experience even if i donât interact with them. I like delves, follower dungeons are Ok if they donât go off on their own.
Iâve played wow since the beginning. A lot has changed with the community. I think Azeroth is just too big now. You hardly see anyone anymore. There can be players attacking the opposing faction and the victims ask for help and the response is âWhy? just turn off warmodeâ Social aspect is dead. Helping people is dead.
Iâm happy that at least the model has changed so the game can still go on. Soon you will be able to do mythic dungeons solo and I will start doing them. Hope followers are a little bit more reactive.
My take first is I think people read to much into the lulls of this game. I sincerely do without any intention of sarcasm.
The game is old itâs hey day was more than a decade ago and itâs gone forever.
Thatâs ok though it happens. I think wow nowadays and for a few expansions even is a game people enjoy still very much but just get their fix on new content especially new raids and expansions but they play that content until they literally get bored with it and just check out.
They will mostly come back for new raids and expansions and massive updates in between but rinse and repeat.
Thatâs the difference now.
15 ish years ago (and I was among them) people were just diehards with this game. And kept playing. I donât think itâs just the game content but literally we the players just changed how we consume the game now then when we were much younger.
Would be nice thoughâŚI needs shorter que timesâŚ
I think the core endgame gameplay loop is too narrow in focus. That is why people just ghost out 2-3 weeks into new content releases.
I donât mind helping someone I see out in the world. I am very introverted though and socially need time to recharge. I can only be friends with people who respect someoneâs time that I sometimes need a break, stage 5 clingers are the worst for me.
NObody wants to pay $15 a month for an old game that has graphics from 2010 and access to classic is my guess.
According to Blizzardâs own statistics that they shared in 2023 or thereabouts, player population rose in DF. We donât know where it stands in TWW. But BFA and SL were the absolute bottom for WoW.
To each their own but I wasnât thinking of brand new players in my comment I was thinking of why are their surges and lulls.
Graphics and the sub fee arenât the main issue for players that come and go based on new big content releases. If it is they are weird people. Because if the money or the graphics irritated me and I kept playing however much or little each expansion thatâs just dumb on my part not blizzards.
New players yes the sub fee would be a turn off - I think you meant new players.
Iâm serious nobody wants to pay $15 for this besides people already hooked when there are superior options for free or for a better value. Back in the early 2000s free to play games were pretty bad compared to now.
Theyâd be super smart to do a marketing blitz on their sub fee like add in all the things they added to xbox gamepass to their sub fee perhaps. That way anything on the bnet launcher can also be played for that sub. Could even do a premium sub with premium wow things, diablo things, etc⌠And/or even a tiered sub thing similar to the new reliquary system for D4 they just announced. So sub to only what you want for $5 a month or something. And also make leveling up to 60 free to play except maybe the last expansion that requires a sub (already have a f2p mtx shop anyway so sales from that will help with a larger f2p playerbase in the lower levels).
Why stay? You build your charcter to 70, you go on this grand adventure . There are a ton of side quests, until there is not. You are level 80 before finishing the story, but you push through it anyway. Story done, side quests done. Time to level gear. Do dungeon, rinse repeat. Gear is finally maxed out. Maybe a month after launch. What to do, what to do. Oh Yeah, level over convoluted, complex, professionâŚor not. Instead you do dailies, daily delvesâŚrinse repeat. Second month, spending more time in capital cities. Should i do a dungeon, maybe pvp, ugh oh i could try my hand at mythic+. Oh well new toon different playstyle. Rinse repeat entire post, or not. Go touch grass and try another MMO for awhile.
In a shocking turn of event Legionâs formulaic blueprint might start to feel stale after a decade. Who would had thought.
mythic plus sucks and ruined the game.
this last two expansions really sealed the deal for me. I used to be huge into mythic raiding. But then m+ came along and added a secondary more stressful grind. so now I just keep it super casual and I log in twice a week and do my LFR.
Does anyone know what happened to Nobully? I miss them on the forum, they were a regular for years here.
