That is usually just bad dps trying to pass off the blame because they refuse to accept they are the reason for the failure.
Kind of proving their point here
Never actually seen this
It’s always that the healer is a poor player in general.
It’s actually somebody making up a scenario that didn’t happen but I digress
Indeed.
The holy trinity is back ![]()
LOL clown take
It really wasnt dishonest at all.
The odd part is I’d expect their responses against healers doing damage to be born from higher difficulty content forcing a LOT more healing. Then, I look at the key levels or content they do run, and I’m at a loss. They aren’t having to heal much in said content at all and must just be afking mid pull or something. There are times when those 7s or 8s they are running do force way more healing than they should, but that I don’t believe to be the norm.
I’d take this a step further, and just make dps abilities free, and the only way to regen mana. Then watch the chaos. Forcing healers to use their entire kits is healthy for the game.
I wouldn’t make healers use DPS to get mana (for the most part, anyway), but I’d reward good healing with powerful damage abilities. Think WHM from XIV, heal good enough and you get a massive DPS blast that punts out BEEG NUMBERS and that’s fun because it lets you contribute to a fight WHILE emphasizing healing technique.
EDIT: Said ability could also have various charges granted by various actions; heal missing HP gives the biggest boost to the charge, but dealing damage with other abilities give some charge so healers still have things to do during non-threatening periods. Overhealing could also give reduced charge to help healers dial in on ‘proper amount’ healing, emphasizing technique over raw spam.
I like the mana angle mostly because it makes resource management a lot more interesting than just “spend this until you can’t”. I’ve seen it implemented in other mmos, and that bit of agency over your resource bar apart from “just don’t use it so much” is interesting to me (probably why I like mistweaver).
Either solution is better though. Something, anything for being good at multitasking on a healer is desirable to me. And yeah, I enjoyed the crap out of BFA/Shadowlands healers being able to blast.
I sure wonder why people don’t want to get into healing more.
Yeah, something like a pool that grows as you successfully heal injury, and then you can turn it into a huge blast not only gives the healer a crescendo to look forward to executing but also gives the devs a way to figure out when and where big healing spikes could happen to lead into DPS bursts since they’ll know when at least one player will have a massive bomb ready to drop.
Has everyone just missed all the recent talk about accessibility and balance? If a healer spec could DPS to within 10% of DPS-only classes, you’d never have anything else in PvP.
People want to turn this game into FFXIV, and I’m not sure that’s even possible.
PvP is a separate discussion that does need to happen, but yes abilities should function differently in PvP versus PvE. Then again, the fact that gear matters in instanced PvP is mind-boggling to begin with and is a huge reason matches get so badly lopsided.
But this thread is a very valid reason why the only healing I do anymore is in PVP. Not worth it for PVE with these kind of outlooks. I’m not going to deal with rage DMs over scripted fights in a M+
Healers could DPS if they want or if DPS are not so bad they have to be constantly healed.
But not be called out just because they don’t. If DPS dont like it go sit in the queue looking for another healer, not like healers need the queue ![]()
In my case, IF I am healing and people are not taking damage, I wont sit there doing nothing, it’d be boring, I would attack.
Healer damage has been mostly useless since the start of DF. And as seasons progress healers damage falls further behind compared to the other roles. Healers today shouldn’t worry about dps at all. If you want to throw in some damage spells because it makes you feel better, awesome. But it won’t have any meaningful impact on timing the key.
I’ll bet you my big bag of dusty French diamonds that healers never play a bad game.
IMO, Healers should heal its kinda why most rolled a healer, if they have a moment to spare they can throw out some DPS but it should be low and just a cherry on top. DPS is dance and kill, healers dance and heal and it makes for a good time that way.
Havent seen this happen once yet
Healers back in Legion and BFA got really triggered by the fact they were supposed to do damage when there was no real healing that needed to happen in the moment. They apparently just wanted to stand around afk until damage went out.
So healer damage got gutted to make it not really worth it. Now they can sit around afk during down time while ignoring half of their classes abilities.
What outlook?
Why can y’all not talk about this topic without making up an invisible boogeyman
