Since you use those to get Coffer Key shards and Coffer Keys also got reset (and was announced) why would you think they wouldn’t reset Radiant Echos as well?

Too be fair, I didn’t see any announcements either but fair enough. Undercoin is not difficult to obtain. A lesson learned for season 3.
I’m not all that invested in delves. I was able to buy all the relevant stuff I wanted from the murloc without doing delves every day. I just assumed after crests got wiped with no compensation that the same thing would be happening to undercoins. Was able to get the pet last week, knew the rest were going to rot, and I didn’t care. I had no fewer than 30 coffer keys rot between all my characters, also didn’t care. I was at the point where I outgeared delves.
However, they could just as easily remove the garbage gear from the murloc vendor and allow you to keep undercoins between seasons.
They buffed the gear to Vet level in Season 2 so pretty good for alts.
Somewhat related: I mentioned in another thread last week that I splurged 5000UC for an Adventure set box for a future alt, stored safely away in my warbank.
Yesterday I kept trying to update my warbank but one slot stayed dark. Thought it was bugged but it was my Adventurer set, greyed out. They killed my lowbie Adventurer set because it was season 1. Dont see why this was necessary. The primalist gear I got in DF is not greyed out. It’s still usable if I want 385 gear, which is super low but if it’s a lvling alt who cares just throw it on.
Anyway wish they hadn’t done that. The set still had some use to me for future expacs.
Honestly, caught me offguard too. Hadn’t seen it in any of the avenues I -do- usually check, which alas. I had enough for Jr, but held off thinking “Oh, maybe I can make the most of my Undercoin at the start of next season”.
Derp. Lesson learned.
Have currencies ever not reset between seasons? Besides maybe honor
Historically, it has either reset, or made defunct by being replaced by a new currency to take its place.
Honestly, considering, I would’ve expected honor -to- reset on that note. And when I checked, I was surprised it didn’t.
General currencies like resonance crystals did not reset.
Some people in this forum say that undercoins were a “seasonal” token, but there was no indication from Blizzard that it was going to be treated as seasonal, especially since there were mount upgrades and a battle pet attached to them. Meanwhile, they apparently did make the “announcement” that undercoins were going away, but they certainly didn’t do a good job communicating that to EVERYONE… Bad, Blizzard, very bad.

Yeah. I don’t normally check the forums for that kind of news anywho. Maybe I missed something on MMO-Champ, but ah well. What’s done is done now.
They could have done a better job in game, like labeling the currency as “season 1” but they released a thing on Wowhead stating what resets, on the week of January 19th and again on February 23rd from what I can see.

There was obviously sufficient concern about undercoins (at one point, not even the streamers and fan sites knew what was going on), enough that they should have noted it in game. Like Trixee said above, labeling it “season 1 currency” in game would have sufficed.

I’m not saying Blizzard can’t do better, but they don’t really convey news or what not in game. Maybe they should make a bulletin board somewhere that people can visit to see seasonal stuff that ends/resets. I don’t know. Wowhead is like, stuff I read with my morning coffee almost every day, so I sort of forget other people don’t like using it or know about it etc.
I still think they should have made it clear IN GAME that the currency would reset. I read a ton of WoW related stuff, and up until about 10 days ago I didn’t know what was going on… even some of the streamers I follow like Soul and Kelani weren’t 100% sure undercoins were going away when I last looked.
Labeling the currency “Season 1” would have completely fixed the issue, but now there are players who lost their earned currencies. Not fair.

It sucks. I assumed they would reset because of being able to purchase gear, so I went and spent all that I had on transmog and the mount stuff. For anyone saving it, I get the frustration. Blizz can do better.

Radiant echos are tied to power, that’s why they went away.
The alternative was that they keep the currency, and introduce a new one. That’s nice so you could have bought the old stuff with undercoin.
Everyone loves obsolete currencies.
But, I mean, specifically with undercoins, I did minimal delves. Two per week for the vault, and I was able to buy everything that wasn’t gear, and I had lots left over to buy reagent bags for gold.
So, specifically with undercoins, its not like folks were saving up like TW badges.
