Where all the Tanks at?

So… to be a non warrior tank you have to do what tanks are supposed to do?

This is why i have been saying to remove the tank role entirely, no one wants to play it anymore

avoiding dungeons, playing in open world.

or at least, I am.
Not subjecting myself to the attitudes that dungeons somehow create towards others

but…I mean, you are a DK…just switch to blood, and tank it yourself.

you ever get the feeling when theyre typing out that joke line…‘there is no tank shortage’…that they LiTERALLY think we cant SEE in the little box who we’re waiting for…tank…healer…dps…lmao.

I think they THINK that thing doesnt exist or we’re too stupid or blind to connect the dots to see that its TANKY who isnt showing up.

Ive sat for a LOOOONG time with 3 dps and a healer waiting for a tank.
Then the healer will bail because its taking too long and now we’re waiting for both.

The second someone says ‘there is no tank shortage’ you can know they have no clue and cant be taken seriously in anything theyve got to say about anything, lol

Once I get a tank to 70 I’ll help out. Though, my wow pal hit 70 on his Warrior soooooooooo… I’ll probably be healing on my Disc Priest.

I like Warrior but I really wanted to do Blood DK or Brewmaster this time around. Also working on a Paladin but good lord is that class boring/weird. Whoever came up with the Holy system and how you spend it needs to go back to class design school.

Rolling ranged for DF is the biggest mistake I’ve ever made in this game. Uptime is miserable and the meters reflect that.

I agree with this. I think you can generalize each role’s playerbase by their personality traits quite well, and by what the roles require of them. Tanking is the leadership role. Its one reason I dont do it. I’m already a reluctant leader at work, so when I get home I really dont want to double down on that when my personality leans more towards supporting. So I play healers. Ive DPS’d some, but healing is my preferred role.

Its no surprise a lot of my guild leaders over the years have been tanks, or vice versa.

I dont even think the role is particularly hard, its just mentally demanding and draining, just like leadership roles are. I have tanked before; played VDH some in Legion and BFA and it was ok, but if I’m going to play a responsible role, Id rather just play a healer since it feels more natural to me than leading.

This mentally demanding and draining role usually just appeals to people who actually enjoy power and leading, and well as you said, theres really not that many out in the real world. Lots of people are perfectly content being sheep.

Tired, we are all very tired

This is the play for sure. Ranged brings nothing I can’t get from melee, and melee DPS is significantly better overall.

I get that’s sarcasm… Though I half agree. I like that there is an attempt at challenging encounters, and some should be move, move, interrupt.

Problem with the current content is that’s there is definitely an excess of ground AOE, in particular when you add in the affixes. AOE packs (due to timer), reackless pulls, no hard CC, no stopping or even as much as time to blink for 30+min.

TBH I generally like the little bit of RP in some dungeons, because it gives me 10s or so to stretch and take a breathe.

Personally, I just bailed on dungeon running and group content.lol
I have no clue how its all going right now. the last few times we tried to do some dungeons…same thing as the OP…cant find-a-tank and Im just not interested in wasting my time.

So for me and my game, BM hunter has been a blast playing the solo content and fighting those big world bosses that you cant kill alone.
I might feel differntly if i was running group content about hunter, I dont know.

I’m here but getting really sick of trash LFGs. You would think by m7 and above, people would know the mechanics of all the fights!

With the scaling changes and gear going to 20s now I’m expecting that won’t be the case. It used to be that a 16+ you could generally assume people knew mechanics because only people that wanted to push keys were there. Now that’s not the case. The toxicity scaled up with the changes, just as I predicted it would.

Geezus. Its the healers I feel sorriest for on that one. Trying to keep a team healed, cant stand still to do it, cant get off a 1.5 second cast before having to jump again.
This isnt fun…its sadism.

Yeah…it ‘can’ be done…but at a point its beyond being enjoyable game play and boring and tiresome and annoying.

Bottomline is that tanks are not fun to play this expansion. Its a role that is too demanding to the average joe. Every tank (but warrior) takes TOO MUCH concentration to play, meanwhile dps are just mashing their heads on the keyboard without breaking a sweat. Its just too much responsability. If someone ninja pulls an extra pack you are pretty much dead (which happens a lot more often in pugs then id like to). And you get bullied if you dont play fast enough or slow enough to the groups liking. So yea. Maybe if tanks did more damage, and didnt get trucked, more people would play it. But the state of tanks is awful, so nobody wants to pug with them.

Maybe its time to review the role itself. If they treated tanks like a 4th dps in the group maybe people would find them fun to play. But all of this responsability to do 1/5th of someone elses damage. Pass. There you go

I don’t expect much until +10 as a 2 key into a 5 key into a 7-8 is still super easy carry range. Mechanics under Thundering are braindead for pretty much anyone even in hDungeon blues.

However, as a bear, I don’t like pugging because my toolkit isn’t even having the fattest butt anymore. Sure bears can do keys, but we have to work our slimmed down butts off for it. Being screeched at because I would rather pull yaks than hunters in HoV is not fun.

When the amount of non-avoidable even with perfect play ramped to stupid and broke my will to heal, I thought I’d go back to my bear roots. Now, I just cringe at the thought of pugging anything.

Tanks don’t do dungeons. Waste of time. Tanks are the very best at solo PVE content and the game is almost 100% about solo content. Having said that When I HAD to do the dungeon quest to get my fourth Spark, I was able to get a group in under 10 seconds. Best of all worlds. My advice. Delete all your non-tank toons. It’s what I did.

They should have just made tanks easier or something. I’m just going to sit back and watch this out, let Blizzard deal with this tank shortages as a result of their ineptitude.

I do agree on the ninja pulls. The pats and extra mobs are too close together in alot of these dungeons. But I disagree on being tough to tank. I have noticed with my Pally, threat mitigation is super easy. The warrior is tough if you don’t get threat right from the beginning. But overall, not too much more difficult than normal. Just have to use your brain and communicate with your group what you are doing.

Let me qualify this a bit.
The reasons I like hunter.

#1 Feign Death. A get out of hell free card. lol. ‘in combat’ ? Feign Death. Pulled too much? Feign Death. Pet gone mental? Feign Death/Play dead macro. Some player drag a mob in on you? Feign Death.
I play hunter now solely because of how useful FD is.

#2 Pet. My own personal tank who I can heal up endlessly. As long as the idiot pet does his job and I do mine, I can pretty much live thru anything.

#3 Speed. Being able to move 30% faster or so, maybe more, is a huge plus.

#4 Disengage. I cant even recall how many times that little ability has saved my rump by getting me out of some ground killer that I likely wouldnt have survived trying to run out of.

#5 Camouflage. Took me a few years to figure it out, but lordie this is FAR more useful than Id have thought, both for healing when I have nothing else ready, and for not having to waste time with trash I can slide by instead.
