When's the last time you saw a GM in-game?

GMs don’t make the game.

They even had their own zone to hang out in. I haven’t seen one in person since 2006, I think it was.

Yea. That was GM island. People used to glitch their way there all the time. Of course if there was a GM in the vicinity they would get insta-banned. Happened to a few people. From memory there wasn’t anything fancy about it anyway. Just a Matrix-style room underground they would port people to for interogation. Just had a single chair and no doors.

I think the island is still there.

GMs came into the game?

Did they have blue text over their heads?

Don’t remember the colour of the names. But back in the day they were blue/purple robed game masters who had control over most things. They would assist with tickets and glitches and the like via their in-game avatar. Instead of normal gameplay buttons, theirs would have like a button (or it may have just been their gear that allowed that) to insta-kill any mob (even raid bosses) or port players to any location etc.

back when i was working on my whirlwind axe quest. the event wouldn’t start, i opened a ticket, and a few minutes later someone ingame was helping me start it up.

don’t think these things happen nowadays.

I remember back on EQ we would do RP events with players. The only downside is they usually drew such a huge crowd it would crash the zone.

The last time I saw one was in Sentinal hill and once word got out people flocked there. By that point seeing a GM in game was extremely rare already. It was pretty early on. at the latest it might have been the middle of TBC but I think it was even before that.

It was always so exciting when it happened though, I remember that. I also remember people trying to get to GM island back then. I miss those days.

Back in vanilla I remember one time maybe even 2 times a GM was just chilling amongst the mortals . He came to take care of issue and stuck around wanted to see how things were going and what was going on he didn’t stay long only like maybe 10 minutes max but still cool to see them interacting.

I let a GM borrow my toon in September to fix a Drustvar quest.

Early days of Wrath.
Funny thing is, I don’t recall why I had a call in for one, but we met in Stormwind.

During Burning Crusade, in Shattrath. GM was chillin’ just outside of the Terrace of Light, showing off Ashes of Al’ar mount. I was mesmerized by the most beautiful thing I had ever seen in the game ever (yes, even more beautiful than the angelic Princess Theradras!), and vowed that one day, somehow, I would have one of my very own. (And I do have one!)

Haven’t seen one since they showed up on my old server in SW during wrath to break up a player issue that was bad enough with real life threats and racist rants a GM had to step in.
Then for fun after they summoned Executus next to the AH and watched everyone panic.

Wotlk but now i have to put more in this box becuz its dum

Started in Vanilla and have never seen one in person. But in BC I did get a whisper when I needed help when my NE died and my whisp got stuck. They nudged it out of the ground for me and before they left they gave a parting joke. It was a lame Khadgar type joke, but still a nice touch after being helped out.

Last time i saw one was probably in WoD when i was settling a Character issue (theres 2 copies of the toon for some reason)
I was in a 20-29 twink bg when suddenly this guy in blue robes appeared and he whispered me (with the blizzard badge in the chat) to see if i was busy at the moment. Quite a shock i got.

When I played Ultima Online before moving to WoW.

I remember seeing one in ironforge when the came was new. Near the area where there’s now target dummies. My friend was running a warsong gulch flag and was moved by one back to the other side of the map. I was also in a bugged warsong game where it was 11 vs 9. A message came from the gm announcing game ends in 1 minute, both sides win.

i started playing 10 years ago, and never saw any. but the four or so tickets i made over those years were resolved by chatting with a GM in-game
