When you FIRST started WoW

Took notes of rare spawn locations in starting zones so I could farm those SICK white weapons and slightly higher armor pieces for further characters.

Tanked RFC as a shaman

Got a blue BOE drop in desolace so I made sure to always steer my alts to that area to quest in. Same with the whelpling in badlands.

Got my character soft-locked due to having dumpster tier internet and hardware and getting stuck on airships and not being done loading before the zeppelin was already past the next loading zone.

I played a NE like everyone else and was around level 12 in darkshore. I met a NE warrior and she showed me how to duel properly because I was just standing still and losing bad. Also she gave me a 14 slot bag which was just insane considering I had all 5-6 slot bags. Before she logged she gave me 1g and I cried because I was unable to afford my rank upgrades and was sitting on 3 silver. Great times. This was in 1.1

Ran a dungeon.

… By asking people on the trade chat to form a group, running on foot to an actual dungeon, getting my daggers broke in the process and spending hours to find a repair vendor. Worst of all, it’s the Stormwind Stockades i think and i was in the middle of Stormwind.

Didn’t realize there was a button to does the group forming for me and teleports me in the dungeon at the time. :hammer:

I tried leveling as a disc priest. I made it to a point and then got stuck. As a scrub, I couldn’t understand why I was having a hard time. I gave up on my priest for a long time after that.

On my druid, tried healing a dungeon (group not made through LFG) as feral and kept going oom (obviously). I think the tank out-geared the instance though, so that helped.

These were back during Cata. I still feel stupid about the healing-as-feral thing.

Got too excited about playing through the Lich King expansion and spent hours doing the little quests around the docks to storm wind. Eventually just leveled into the next expansion :disappointed:

Ahh… that’s how it was back in the day. We ran to dungeons. You had a good experience.

I saw the rams walking on the mountainside in Dun Modr, so when I got my first ram mount, I thought I’d do what they did…and ran right off a cliff, falling to my death in the Wetlands.

Not much from be but I’d say Think that old raids mattered still and spent time getting WOTLK heroic (ilevel 200?) gear because I wanted to get ready for “that Naxx place” only to find out nah you don’t have to do that just run heroics until your eyes bleed and get 232 (?) gear and go right to ICC.

Not the dumbest thing I’ve done by a long shot but a real eye opener.

Wandering around Darkshore I realized quickly that Moonkins are not your friend.

Still miss that zone tbh. Not a fan of the post Cata version.

Back when I started, my 1st char was Alliance.
So, I was low level and got a quest to go to Ironforge.

I didn’t realize I had to take the Deeprun Tram directly from Stormwind, so I tryed to go walking… Yes, walking because I didnt have level enough to mount.

So, walking by Burning Steppes and being killed by every creature just by looking at me, I decided to search what to do and I just needed to get that tram.

I leveled to 40 and got bored of WoW. Paid a Chinese company to get me to 60 and bought 5k gold that was like 20$ rl money. Got ban for a week, came back and played casually until I found a raiding guild and cleared everything up to naxx40 before splitting up at BC launch.

Halo 2 was current and that’s all I cared about. WoW was an after thought so the ban was laughable to me.

I came from browser games. So I didn’t know that you could change the size of your character on the monitor, or that you could tilt the horizon up/down. So at first I ran around with an oversized toon missing things because of toon size and horizon angle.

There were actually points where it was better leveling to do that. Low 50ss I remember grinding out on one of the farms in wpl.

As a left handed person I refused to learn how to use a mouse with my right hand when I was younger, and I started playing in BC when I was 10 years old. I used to put my mouse on the left side of my keyboard, click all my abilities, and use the arrow keys to move (with my right hand).

You’re not alone. I did that. Got tossed from a deadmines run for it.

I used to melt ore and vendor it. (I remember being angry that gold ore was not worth even a gold)

Played my lock as a melee class because he could use swords

Switched gear for gear with better armor over better stats.

Wouldn’t kill any Furbolgs because I didn’t know which one I needed the rep with.

I thought the most important stat for my newbie warlock was armor & raw damage from weapons… I made use of white items more often then I’d like to admit.

There was also that journey into the plaguelands before I was even level 10.

While leveling this character, in his 20’s, I thought that I was pretty stealthy to not have been seen by the ?? Alliance players. Turns out, they just ignored me unt-… until… well until they didn’t. >.<

When I started WoW, I had never played a MMO before. I created a night elf priest and started leveling. At about level 15 I discovered that I could cast spells on other players. I thought that was so cool. At about level 35, the Horde attacked Darnassus so I wanted to help fight them. I died so many times that my armor became badly damaged. I started seeing armor pieces showing up on my screen, but I thought I was receiving awards for fighting.

During my first dungeon

Me: "Where is my dagger? Why am I punching the boss?

A person in the instance: “What do you see in your top right corner of the screen?”

Me: “There is a red dude, probably red with anger and hence more powerful now I’m assuming.”

You have been kicked from the group.

My first character was a hunter with a tamed a cat from the starter area. When I saw a far better looking cat I tried to tame it. I chased it for ages, not understanding why taming wasn’t working… until they popped out of form to explain about druids. :flushed:

The rest is history. I logged out, made my own druid and this has been my main ever since. So the story, while extremely embarrassing, ended very well!
