When will we get a Horde story?

I pointed at WC3 specifically because Orcs vs. Humans was not new. Monsters that aren’t Monsters was unique, especially when The Alliance (the conventional heroic fantasy stand-in) were depicted as doing morally reprehensible things.

Modern Warcraft has backpedaled into Horde = Monsters that need the holy civilized people to keep them honest.

Warcraft 3 was when the orcs finally got some real development. WoW was doing that until BFA and SL when people only wanted faction wars and turned the horde into monsters yet again. Like…why?

Because a lot of people just want an evil horde. The whole point of Warcraft 3 was for the horde to get their own land and somehow live with the rest of the world, for the orcs story. Most people just loved Illidan and Arthas story more though.

I am extending them the last drop of grace in my bucket that Metzen’s influence will kick in during Midnight and give me something to buy into.

I think my problem tends to be I don’t really find much appealing or interesting about a lot of the main cast? Outside of Dagran that is. He’s a precious boy who can do nothing wrong (which is why they immediately shuffled him offscreen for no good reason).

Maybe if the headlining cast had… a little more personality? Anything that sparked joy? I’d feel better about not having Horde heroes to quest with. But they don’t. And so I’m just here remembering when I got to quest with Horde characters and the things I enjoyed about that. Maybe Undermine(d) will help. We’ll see.

And, I think, perhaps, if there had been considerations made for a Horde character to be involved in the opening patch’s story on that level, I’d feel better about the focus on Renzik. I also have no idea why Etrigg was in the Winter Veil comic. Maybe if they had invested in two Christmas comics, perhaps we could have had a proper reunion without feeling like they needed to crowbar in a random Horde character into an Alliance moment that was too long in coming.

I’m aware of the spoiler. I think you have me confused with someone? I’m not sure where you go the idea I want Alliance characters to die.

I mean, let us be for real. If it was a Horde character driven, the characters still wouldn’t be written any differently. Still going to be a lot of trauma dumping and talking about feelings and one character going wild with the void. I Mean, we traded one windrunner for another that are just the same character bascially.

I get where you and Alysna are coming from and those are also very valid concerns/grips with where the story is currently going.

I wasn’t trying to diminish anyones complaints. I can only speak from personal experience as someone who is not only older, but much more calmer than I was in my 20s and 30s.

I think the edgelord Horde had more to do with the people in charge than the playerbase. WC3 through WotLK did a good job of serving both masters, so to speak. Cata/MoP and BFA, as you’ve alluded to, inexplicably decided that both camps needed to fight one another, twice.

There is nothing wrong with pretending the alliance doesn’t need involvement all the time in anything that happens. If the Horde can wait two patches before they show up again so should the blue team.

Blood elves were already ignored back in TBC there is nothing to assume now will be better things to come. They seem fixed on the idea all attention should drive to Alleria.

Please define “ignored” so I can reply with the correct level of incredulity.

It was essentially all about Draenei at all important raids and considering cutscenes didn’t exist back then the quests are the only other source of attention we could have had. And of course Chronicles retconning only the alliance was present at the Sunwell.

Um, there was an in-game, overworld scene where Lady Liadrian went to talk with that Naaru (I forgot the name) in Shattrath City. It’s triggered by the completion of a quest, IIRC.

No, Draenei mirrored Blood Elf content at basically a 1:1 ratio. Kael and his supporters got did dirty, granted, but in terms of questing and general expansion themes, TBC was drowning in blood…

as enemies only. The playable ones were forced to kill their leader twice while the raid oin the Sunwell was carried by the alliance. Continuing the vanilla trend of the real important fights being for team blue only.

That isn’t being ignored, that is just telling an awful story.

But it is real dumb that Sunwell was canonically Alliance cleared, for sure.

That depends on who you are. I have seen more than a few Goblin players VERY pumped about the next patch.

I think the issue here is you want a very specific kind of Horde content. And that is fine. You just need to recognize there are even Horde players who want different things.

I am actually almost the same with Dwarves, despite being Alliance. Not the sometimes kill part.

And that is basically how I describe my feelings towards Goblins. I am not personally excited for the Goblin patch. I am happy for the Goblin players, but I am meh about it myself.

When you get it, and I am sure you will, I will probably be a bit meh about it. I like Baine, but Thrall never really felt all that cool to me and has just been overplayed. Again, 100% my personal feeling. Maybe Blizzard will surprise me and give me a version of Dagran to adopt. But either way, I will be happy for you the same way I am happy for out Goblin buddies.

Overplaying your hand with this bait. The consistent focus the BEs enjoyed across TBC is rivalled only by the orcs and draenei in WoD. Also by the orcs and draenei in TBC, now I think of it, but it was still very much the blood elf show.

I literally called out Undermined in the same paragraph you quoted.

Yes, you called them “bones.”

The point is, that is not “bones” to some players. That is what they have been waiting for.

Now, maybe I mistook what you meant. It felt like you were suggesting it was just a bare minimum, not real meat on the ‘bones.’ If that is not what you were saying, I apologize.
