11.1.7 typically. The uncapping is less about letting people grind gilded and more about being able to trade up runed.
Crests are to offer gradual power progression which offsets infinitely farmable loot from mythic+. Before then we just had weekly lockouts on everything, or the rng slot machine of titanforging.
I’d say anyone who derives enjoyment in wow from watching their ilvl go up is unlikely to ever truly be satisfied. To me I don’t see the point of acquiring the gear unless you’re going to do something with it.

I spent my stockpile of lower tier crests to buy ones I needed to do some upgrades. Already capped for the week and haven’t even run a dungeon. The weekly caps are just too low, it’s dumb and kills motivation to be capped so quickly every week.

i wont lie if if i cant get crests on a toon than im only doing keys for rating increases as there is little reason to grind keys on that character. and i wont stay in a 30 death slog fest for vault

Why? At that point just make all loot drop at 678/665/652/639. The point is to become stronger over time even if you aren’t getting loot drops.
That it does. It feels weird that it seems like the purpose is to demotivate you from playing a character once you hit that point.
I’m going camping for the next 3 days and won’t lose any progress on my capped characters

How would people feel if we got rid of upgrading completely, but just made it so every week your average ilvl went up by 1.
Would people be clamouring for bliz to increase it to 2, or 3, or 5?
im already 664 665 on my 2nd toon. on the 2nd toon i havnt even reached the cap at all for guilded and gearing up is really really fast. my main does the bare minimum for 3 662 slots thats it

maybe in 11+ keys the loot should be pre upgraded more.
