In WoD they introduced their first mobile phone game app called a mission table (which they literally made a mobile phone app for), in Legion they modified it some and in BFA they tweaked it some more. In patch 8.2 they made caps to how much reputation you can get turning them into daily login requirements (which is exactly what freemium games rely on to keep you logging in). In patch 8.3 they’ve devised new ways of forcing players to login daily to get rewards and to be viable for end game content.

You forgot to mention it’s completely optional and only does what you can do in game. It’s nothing extra.

Long gone are the days were you can pay a subscription fee and play at your own pace, no, you’re now a slave to a game that has no end. In BFA there was titanforging that meant any item you got that wasn’t titanforged was a lesser item that meant nothing for you, now the same thing has happened with corrupted gear, and just like in Diablo 3 the goal post has been moved further and further away.

yeah because raid logging in classic is so much better.

You never feel complete, you never feel finished. They’ll just add more difficulty levels (just like lfr,normal,mythic raid difficulties and mythic+ for dungeons) to keep you on the treadmill forever, and all this is to see what they can get away with before releasing their own mobile games.

What if I don’t want to be finished, what if I want something to always be able to challenge my character? Being overpowered and “finished” is lame.

All the garbage predatory practices from lootboxes to forced daily login rewards is being used to build feedback loops for their soon to be released mobile phone games that the share holders have desperately been wanting to release in China and then the rest of the world.

WoW doesn’t have lootboxes.

People playing WoW are literally beta testers for their phone games. They’ve been trying real hard to come up with a freemium model that has an addictive hook to sucker whales and common people into giving up their cash for endorphin rushes.
