they have the game. they said that they need to look at the coding, then put it on the new technology/servers, and add it to battle.net launcher. so 2 years seems way to far off. but that's just my opinion. I am assuming maybe a year. but that's being optimistic.

You're being overly hopeful. 2019 sounds like the earliest to me.
Next tuesday I think, maybe wednesday. So settle down.
11/09/2017 07:15 PMPosted by KungfuzombieI don't get the hype of classic in about 1 year of launch everyone will be fully raid geared and the game will die cause there nothing new to do.
Unless they work hard on keeping PVP evolving. Persistent world live map changing territory control on a large scale could work well.
A lot of people here are ignoring the fact that private servers (specifically Kronos server) have 99.9% replica versions of WOW Vanilla. All Blizzard needs to do is contact one of the private servers and ask (or force) them for the coding and boom; Blizzard has a working vanilla server overnight.
So hopefully classic servers are a matter of weeks, not months.
I plan to start playing WOW again and I'm very excited.
I'm returning after quitting in Cataclysm...only for vanilla/classic.

[quote="207577732067"]2-4 years, since they had nothing to show.
They already have the coding, its not an expansion, but more of a patch, it wont take 4 years.
At most a year, probs going to launch with bfa

Guessing 2+ years
If they hire the developers of the unofficial servers it should be done rather quickly (less than 1 year) since they don't have to develop or design anything groundbreaking/new. The only challenge I could see would be having Classic run concurrently with Legion/BFA on the same infrastructure.
it cant take damn much , plz blizz give us a hint dont say soon !
Not soon enough. I cannot wait for it.

You didn't need to respond and bump up another classic/vanilla server thread but here you are.
Like that girl that says she is over her ex, but won't stop talking about him.
Most likely it will come out in the dry spell after the last raid of BfA, so that everyone has "new" content to go through
My guess is they drop the new xpac (BfA) some time next fall of 2018. That will roll out with a patch or 2, then they will hype up the classic servers well after the new xpac. Could be 2 years 2019 maybe?
11/05/2017 06:57 PMPosted by DuskSigh if only they started during WoD in 2015 when it was at its highest demand (largely due to WoD being a huge disappointment), it would be out already.
That probably is when they started looking into it. Development takes time, and for something as huge as WoW, it probably took ages to get to the point where they were even comfortable announcing it. Also, even though all the content exists, they still have to work on getting it running on a small scale in-office, setting up equipment, possibly rewriting some of the classic WoW code to use the current version of the game's netcode to ensure the servers can deal with the likely surge of players, be they old players looking for a nostalgia trip, or newer players looking to experience classic WoW. (seriously, '04 netcode is probably the kind of thing people would be fine with blizzard leaving out of classic.)

I really don't understand how it's so hard to bring back Vanilla WoW when there are current servers running it for free...

They are porting the vanilla client onto their current infrastructure. I assume this means rewriting a lot of old code. Rewriting code is why they have to hire to a new team to not take away from their current team.
You have to give it to Blizz. Sometimes it takes a while but they always hear their fans. That is the number one reason why they're the best.
