Facts don’t matter? Actually they do. Warchief was a concept of the Burning Legion.

They don’t in this context. Thrall took up the position of a Warchief to reform the Horde and to start over in Kalimdor. A Warchief was particularly necessary to unite the orcs for survival, which became the culture of the Horde for decades.

but that doesn’t preempt the thousands of years that the Orcs existed WITHOUT a Warchief and conducted their affairs internally as Clans.

Orc existed without a Warchief on their home world on Draenor when they didn’t have the problems they started having with Gul’dan and the opening of the Dark Portal. And also, the Horde is no longer just orcs but also elves, tauren, trolls, undead, etc. A Warchief is necessary to keep the Horde together. Times change.
