Well its not like she had much fighting screen time before BfA. She was usually brooding in her catacombs. Also she had never used her Banshee form before.
But maybe its her gaining more power from a bargain with Death (bring lots of death this side of the veil in exchange of her own) or her bargain with Helia, cause those powers don’t look Azshara’s.
