It’s definitely not the same, but unless you intend to change covenants, you can use your current covenant legendary as a unity legendary. The Unity unlock just unlocks the ability to wear a covenant legendary in a second slot.
So you can use existing covenant legendaries. Or if you plan to switch covenants, you can craft a unity legendary that will change covenant abilities with you.
It’s not perfect, but it’s better than nothing. (This is all PTR stuff, I can’t 100% say it’s the same on live)
It’s mostly a QOL thing. For me, on multiple toons I’ve crafted covenant legendarys for multiple covenants Venthyr/ Fae for hunter. It’s just me wanting to be cheap and not having to make Unity on top of a second legendary on those toons lol.

I play about 10 hours a week (practically nothing by most standards). And even I have looted 8 of these things.
I’m afraid to say it, but I’d call that drop rate nothing short of perfect.
It allows me to (eventually) craft 2 for myself, a random “other” to try something different/fun, and one to sell.
I’m not seeing anything to complain about that droprate.
The droprate on essentia is actually one of the things they got right. Crafters need some level of reward for bothering to rank up the slots, and keeping essentia somewhat uncommon means that rank 7 pieces will be fairly valuable for awhile.

The mats are like 40-50k depending on server prices. If you pay 500k then that’s on you for being silly
Treasures have them a lot. I act like a dog with a shiny object when I see a treasure.
One of the Jiro buffs also increases the chances. Though I wish it lasted more than 15 minutes at a time.

Yea tying legendaries to gold just feels like a move to try and sell wow tokens.

Might not be true for leather and mail, but I was assuming he was referring to plate (didn’t notice the paladin poster was not max level) which the mats on your server are 40k-50k.
Cloth and jewelcrafting mats are even cheaper, although yeah for some reason the leatherworking mats are out of whack
edit: and if you farm the two essentias yourself (which is really not hard at all), the mats are <10k gold

Its always been a cash grab. They want you to buy the wow token. Its sad. The only thing Blizzard thinks about when making new content is how can we monetize it. Its not about it being fun and it hasnt been since the wow token was created. More and more players are gonna leave

farm your mats, and tell someone to craft it for a tip, or sell your mats in ah and buy the lego
i have 4 Progenitor Essentia in one toon alone doing zzzzereth mortis, you need 2 to craft the lego

If you are not a world first raider, you can easily wait a couple of weeks like everyone else to get them once the initial rush calms down. You are only getting a couple more stats for the upgrade anyways.

I bought alot at 5k in week 1 and sold at 15k in week 2 its all people being impatient
I have all the mats I need to make a legendary ring although I would prefer shoulders (for BiS slot)
if you’re refering to callings, even if one could do 50 callings, 7 days a week (lol) then with an average loot of 1800g in trash that only comes out to a little more than half a mill. That doesn’t take into account, of course that you’d need
- 50 alts at L60
- The accumulative travel time to go pick up your calling, turn it in and then click a vendor to insta-vend
- The fact that doing so would require one to complete these tasks every 25 minutes? every day of every week
