I thought it was a mini dragon untill I zoomed in and saw it was two hands overlapping.

This does not at all represent a ‘dragon’ class icon, a simple bamf dragon head would of done the job.
Like how does Druid and warlock get a clear resemblance of their class fantasy by their hand/paw icons and Evokers looks like a weird triangle tripping on acid?
Every class has an icon that’s like ‘yeah that makes sense’ (priest and mage are nods to their weapons back in the day, but they’re probably the ones pulling 2nd/3rd last places for me)
Evokers could of got a dragon head looking all suave and dangerous, we’re zooming in to look at some acrylic nails? Oh that’s the ‘dragon class’ the one with “pretty nail”

While I agree the forums class icon is trash and could’ve been way better, it’s actually one Dracthyr hand casting a spell. Not 2 hands overlapping.

After taking a close look at the Evoker forum icon, I think you’re both wrong.
That isn’t a picture of 2 dracthyr or two hands casting a spell…
It’s clearly a picture of a blue colored Gumby leaning to the upper left, a bird’s head in profile pointing to the upper right, and some lettuce in the background.
Why Blizzard chose to associate Dracthyr with Gumby, birds and lettuce … only they know. Must be an inside joke.

If you’re talking about the forum one, that’s definitely just one hand casting a spell. The top left part is the arm/wrist with a golden bracelet.
Also, I wonder when will the class get their own color on these forums?

Yes, I really did.
that thumb looked like it was a second wrist as it’s so long and extended.
Then the bottoms two fingers and the index finger looked like they were on top. And the middle finger, because of the line placed at its base joining it to the hand, made it look like it was part of another hand underneath, as it’s shape was bent forward where the other fingers all bend outwards.

I can clearly see it’s a hand now but I’ll try to explain why I thought it was overlapping hands.
The thumb is the wrist then the index finger, the pinky and the other useless finger we all have next to the pinky belong to the hand on top. Then the wrist and middle finger looked to me like they were the second hand underneath.
With the blown up image, it’s easier to see it’s 1 hand but still, why not just a dragon head 
Edit* I think my view of a hybrid race was also impacting the way I viewed the icon. Being reptilian/dragon race I didn’t expect them to have human hands and 5 fingers, but more of that claw look with 3 fingers.
