What's Your Wishlist for Lemix? (Part 1)

The most sensible take so far, and I wish more took a moment to think out the process.

My wife first started playing WoW during Legion, a bit before the start of 7.2, which was my first time playing at all seriously since Wrath. Neither of us were good at the game at all, but we loved everything about it. She was very pregnant when we started playing, and we both took a few months off from playing after she gave birth, starting up again just at the start of 7.3.

We didn’t even know about the mage tower appearances until we started playing again in 7.3, and we didn’t know they would be removed until about 2 weeks before the expansion ended. We also weren’t aware of the max power upgrade to the artifact weapons until just before the expansion ended. I was able to get the artifact appearances for mage, but my wife could not get the warlock appearances she absolutely loved, despite her best efforts.

I understand it was easy for many people then, but it was a challenge for her, and I imagine for many other people as well like her - people who could barely clear heroic raid at the end of a raid tier, who took a few months off because life happened, who loved the story and class fantasy but weren’t tracking the latest news. I’m willing to bet many people were surprised the mage tower appearances were one day no longer obtainable at all.

For my wife, it honestly broke something for her in her relationship to the game. She felt a kind of betrayal, and has only occasionally played the game since then. To this day she comments occasionally how she wishes she’d been able to get it. But it isn’t really about the mog itself, since she could get the recolor of it available now. It was just a really terrible, exclusionary decision that no one agreed with other than a handful of the worst parts of the playerbase.

How the current dev team can look at the situation and continue to propagate that mindset from the team 8 years ago is beyond me. If anything you’d think they’d run from that mindset as fast as they could - that’s been their stated goal for years now. This relapse to the old mindset is juvenile and disappointing, and antithetical to their supposed efforts to focus on the more casual members of the playerbase. They failed to do so once, and it’s a shame to see them fail to do so a second time.

If they brought back mage tower appearances, I guarantee my wife would be the first one to log on to play legion remix. Without it, I don’t know that she’ll even try it, and if she does, I already know her comment will be “it’s nice to play it again…but I still just wish I could get the floating demon head”.

It’s not about the logic. It’s about who’s in charge of making the decision. Thats why we see so many appeals in courts. You think judges in this day and age rule on that pesky thing called ‘the law’? It’s all about ‘muh feelings’. Which usually run counter to what the law proscribes. Sad fact… they haven’t been doing it right for about 30+ years. Any former counselor knows all about the courts and the ‘good boys club’.

I honestly don’t understand this reasoning? Wanting something to stay prestigious, and then allowing certain retired things back dosn’t make much sense? You didn’t allow the AoTc mount in MoPremix, but are suddenly allowing it here? I think it should all be avaliable. And that is as someone who had gotten the majoirty of Mage tower and CM from MoP

Even if you don’t wana put the actual ones back, have them be recolors. Like recolor the mount, the mythic chosen set, and the mage tower items if you’re that set on not re-releasing them all back. Only pick and choosing some to be re-obtainable sounds werid.

However if you are wanting suggestions of stuff to bring into Legion Remix, bring an obtainable version of Frostmourne that was made during legion. People have had the Doomhammer, the Ashbringer… give DK’s a proper two-handed Frostmourne!

This is great news!

I see some people getting salty about people wanting mage tower appreances. Well I’m sorry I had a job working on the road during the legion expansion and didn’t have time to play as much. I guess I should have become a basement dwelling neckbeard instead of a responcible adult trying to better the lives of my family and myself

You misread it, they won’t be available.

bro… this is not it

anyone else think it was a coincidence that they released this information right after putting a new mount on the store for the 12 month subscription? lmao

No, sir. I read it right.

It probably is. This is much too close to release for them to have gotten everyone on 6 month recurring subs. I think they just got into the stupid juice.

It isn’t they wont bring back what the playerbase thinks is special. Its why you can get the vestments back but not CM rewards, elite rewards etc. No one cares about the mog in the playerbase.

I’d like it where you could buy the old PvP elite sets if you went and achieved the rating required for them.

It’s completely contradictory “logic” though. AotC mounts are “skill-based time-limited rewards.” I nean I personally don’t care, I have the Grove Warden and the Violet Spellwing and got them both from the Friendship Moose folks, I didn’t “earn” those mounts. Even stuff I did earn over the years, I wouldn’t be upset if new people could get them more easily nowadays.

Heck, look at my paladin’s transmog. I’ve played for 20 years and just now got the Grand Marshal gear in S1 of TWW. I’ve always wanted it. I got it because someone from these very forums posted looking to help people accomplish their late-season goals. I hate PvP, I suck at it. But I’ll be eternally grateful to him for duo-queueing with me and teaching me how to be less bad at it. It’s easily the hardest and most stressful thing I’ve ever successfully attempted in this whole game, and might be the most impressive thing I ever do.

If I logged in tomorrow and the rating requirement was removed, I’d be ecstatic, because it would mean other people who thought this gear looked cool could just go get it without having to go through the (largely self-imposed) stress and frustration that I went through to get it. I don’t think unlocking it makes me special, I’m just lucky I ran into somebody that was willing to help me get it done.

This is the wrong choice. I love getting asked about my transmog and where pieces come from. Having to reply “Too bad, you missed out” is terrible and doesn’t contribute to a social game. I hope that they will reconsider, but believe that devs are too stuck in their ways to change.

As someone who got all of the Paladin, DK, and a few other skins back then…just release it again. Nobody honestly cares that much about skins in a 10 year old version of the game.

you still will stay subbed lol

Because it’s how you can tell in game if someone has been consistently good at rated PvP going back to when they got the reward, seasonal PvP cosmetics are a skill check, not a participation trophy.

It’s also the only way to know if someone got gladiator back before websites were tracking rating/achievements (for example, a TBC gladiator mount).

Another thing, gladiator is easier/harder in subsequent seasons, a lot more people achieved it in season 2 of Shadowlands as opposed to season 4 of Shadowlands; same goes for elite sets from previous expansions compared to now, it’s honestly a cake walk to get elite sets as of this xpac compared to in Legion. Making these rewards obtainable again waters down the prestige of those rewards and how difficult it was to obtain some of them compared to others.

Nothing quite says “We dislike our player base” than saying “We could bring back these things that have been exclusive for a decade, but becuase you simply weren’t playing then or didn’t get them then too bad. We need to make the 1% of the 1% of our player base feel prestigious in these decade old rewards.”

I know that I’ll have the “prestige” of earning something during an expansion. Nothing can ever take that away. And nothing should ever be locked behind the gates of time. There are kids playing this game that weren’t even born when this game launched. This mindset needs to die. Prestige is always there. You will always have it. You will always know when you got something. Having others get that same thing never diminishes your prestige.
