Thanks for the updates, I’ll check things out tomorrow and see if they are smoothed over a bit.
A few are playing with War Mode on. I tried this… it worked a decent amount. Playing in Eversong was a lot more manageable, only small delays now.
Tried the intro on another toon, WM on, and it made no difference ![]()
This is far from the worst beta release
With the quick boot, i have not been able to get back on
Yea too bad its not back in the day anymore. streamers get the beta naturally. they purposely made it so people have to buy the highest tier so they can get beta for sure. they know exactly what they are doing. Keep drinking the koolaid though.
Been playing beta since TBC and they missed the mark by a lot with this one. Even by previous betas that allow you to play by buying a higher tier version of the game. This one launched in basically “you can’t get in” state by not allowing you to create a character at all. But still it’s beta, let’s wait it out.
Whatever was done yesterday, the lag is basically gone for me! I do get hints of it randomly, but I can move, I can cast, I can function basically normally!
happy to report the lag seems to be gone for me this morning. Could be low server numbers given it’s early, but man, this is great!
My guess is the numbers are not that much lower. Remember, no EU servers and this is prime EU playing time. The area I’m in is packed, no lag but other bugs apparent. ![]()
I got out of the start region just by continuing during US late night hours (UTC 8:00 am). It looks like a server load issue in that start region, simply to many people in the same area.
Perhaps consider moving the Quel’Danas bottleneck scenario to the prepatch, then people don’t get blocked by this at release.
After completing the scenario and unlocking the new Silvermoon, lags appear to normalize, they are not that bad, when people can scatter in the Midnight quest zones.
If there is so much lag preventing players from playing the game, how can they help identify problems? It may be Beta but it needs to be playable. If the opening series of quests aren’t ready, then pull them from the Beta and let people test what is ready.
If your still experiencing a lot of lag especially in the beginning quest then what really helped for me was portal out and then go back to silvermoon. Was there still latency issues yes but it was so much better.
I deleted my lag post but I will add feedback here:
So I logged in for the first time last night.
Started the quest to take you to the new zone. Zoning in took a lot longer than it normally does.
Just trying to accept the new initial quests took over 6 seconds each. Trying to kill mobs was equally as bad.
For the unemployed maybe
Its still the middle of a work day ![]()
Id think the servers would be on the low side right now
Garrison issue was impacting all players. The issue with this beta didn’t impact everyone and in fact I watched several streamers who had 0 to very little issues playing the beta. After Blizzard did a server shut down last night the issue was fixed and everyone was now able to access the beta just fine. Isn’t that something ;p
Thank you very much for the detailed updates. This is exactly what we want. Apprentice it!
There are other ways to test content and character designs and rotations while you wait for the disruptive lag in the starter zone to be rectified. Beta is not early access. You find the thing that is wrong, you report it, and you move on to the next thing. This is literally what a beta is for, to find the things that are wrong and report them, and the lag in the starting zone is exactly one of those things that Blizzard is hoping to discover as part of the beta.
You might not like that, but it’s the truth. If you bought the expansion to play the beta as an early access, your thought process is inherently flawed and you are looking at it from the wrong perspective. There will be things wrong with the Beta. There will be laggy areas. There will be gamebreaking bugs. I lost a character in alpha permanently to falling under SMC using the barbershop mirror. I just made a new one. There’s not much else to it. So if you go to the starting area and its still laggy, report it as a bug and go find something else to do. Go quest in Dorn. Do delves. Do old dungeons. Test your character’s interactions with other stuff.
Yes, as was stated in the Blue post, an error was found once a sufficient number of players were playing that was not apparent with fewer players. Once it was found, they started working on fixes (which required server restarts). Those fixes may or may not cause future problems. That’s how an iterative development process works.
I really wonder what Alpha players were doing instead. Too many issues passed onto BETA. Done multiple betas sure there are issues, but this is beyond anything I’ve seen XD
Calling out people saying they are flawed is not a good look for you. Their thinking is not flawed. DO BETTER! PLEASE!!!
