All I’m seeing is one pet cat, a pet that can’t move and does aoe dmg, and two/three pets that mimic your attacks. All of those being temporary and on a lengthy cooldown. It’s just not what I think of when I think of a fist fighter.
It is basically a new class.
Remember back in the long long ago when we had that one class where you did optimal damage at range with your one loyal pet?
Yeah we don’t have that class anymore. We don’t even have a single hunter spec that plays that way.
Marksman still can use pets
Probably monk because they seem to be average to below average in popularity and ranking.
When people talk about dps or melee in general, it’s warrior, rogue, even enhancement shaman… Anyone even remember monk has a dps spec?
As for healer, they seem to be middlng to below average, and forgotten.
Monk doesn’t seem to have a real spot anywhere, that another spec doesn’t do better.
Honestly feel if monk got deleted, would anyone even notice?

optimal damage
Just started leveling my monk again and this hit home. Made me truly LOL.
this is the correct answer
demon hunters being an exceedingly close second
Evoker.
Purely because of Augmentation.
Defininetly this. This class has completely borked other classes due to the existence of aug. That plus its playstyle is silly. It also doesn’t help that its locked to an incredibly borked looking race that has no place in the game.
I’d argue the only one that feels like a natural fit with the other classes is monk. It’s a WoW take on an RPG staple, not some weird WC3 hero cosplay class (DH/DK). The only problem with monk is how their visual themes are so closely tied to the pandaren.
Evoker/Dracthyr feel like they got lost on their way to another game.
Of the four I’m somewhat torn between Demon Hunter and Evoker. I find both to be somewhat gimmicky and DH’s dps spec mechanically redundant.
Addendum:
As a disclaimer, I don’t quite see any of the four as entirely bad. I’m more comparing them to each other than anything.
Yes.
The better question is out of 20years why only 4 new classes? These dudes is lazy.
LOL,well three of them are the worst, monk not bad imho.
Death Knight - Their greatest sin was… poor implementation. Frost should never have been a spec, making it open to every race initially was dumb, and making it open to absolutely every other race later on was even dumber.
But, conceptually, they fill the “Dark Knight” archetype, one WoW didn’t have, and so were a sound and significant addition. It had explicit WarCraft history and establishment, and works both within their specific story, but is general enough to work outside it.
⠀
Monk - While MoP was far, far more impressive than its April Fools day origins would ever have hinted at, the Monk just doesn’t work. An unarmed class in a world without armament restrictions is senseless and dumb. If the WoW Monk actually leaned more into the armed variation, that’d be one thing, but that’s not the focus.
What’s worse is it’s all Panda all the time. If only Pandaren could be Monk this would make sense, but if they intended the class to be as open as it is, they should have made it broader and more generic. If you’re going to let the other races have the martial arts class, let them be more than honorary pandas - give them some of their own martial arts identity and let the class be more open to expressing them.
⠀
Demon Hunter - while no class may boast more WarCraft specific flavor, this class really doesn’t work. Oh, you’ve devoted your existence to hunting the Legion? Okay, cool. But they don’t matter any more and won’t for the foreseeable future…
Also, two specs? This is 66% of a class. We didn’t need any more agility based leather, and frankly Illidan should have stayed dead.
⠀
Evoker - While I love the idea of a dragon class, this is 100% not what I wanted. The name is insipid and generic beyond reckoning - if you’re going to make a dragon class, go all in. Dracolyte, Dracomancer - “Evoker” is what a mage calls himself when “Wizard” is too mainstream, but he’s too much of a wimp to dabble in Necromancy or Demons.
Also, the idea of the dragon race being explicitly a soft, squishy, “please don’t touch me!” fragile caster class… period, nevermind exclusively is a total failure of concept. And while I’m shocked and kind of intrigued that they’re bringing in the idea of a “support” role outside of healing this late in WoW’s life, that should have been a tank or melee role to make up for this nonsense.
⠀
Ultimately, the loser here is… the Demon Hunter. It’s not even a complete Class, even if it wasn’t so insanely dependent on its central concept that it doesn’t fit outside it. It is fun - I won’t deny that. But we didn’t need it. It has no role or place outside its fundamental job of hunting demons, it bloats the item tables with a weapon type that’s no good to anyone else, and turning it into a baseline player class, even a heroic one, destroys any mystique or gravitas the idea once held.
Evoker: I don’t like their visages. Need more race options they can use as their visage. I just can’t play one and I have tried. I like getting in people faces with my Death Knight or Warrior.
Evoker. Easily. Very boring class, only their healing spec is at all remotely interesting, and augvoker is one of if not the biggest balancing blunders ever added. Also, dracthyr is a lame race and it’s locked to that class.
