Does anyone else feel like it is extremely easy to get ‘top tier’ gear and achievements? And when you do its like “big deal”. I don’t think many people care or pay attention to other peoples titles and achievement points. When you get a piece of lvl 395 gear… OK thanks, now what- that’s it? I think the legion artifact weapon was a pretty cool idea- the fact that you can work on changing the look of the weapon was awesome. But the Azerite necklace…once again, the item level goes up after you unlock (HOPEFULLY!) the traits that you want, and that’s it?
10-15 years ago I played an MMO before WoW, that was ran by a horrible company but was wildly popular and addictive because you really had to work to become ‘great’, and the rewards were great because they were of course effective but also visual. You were able to tell who the great players were just by looking at their character. The best PVP’ers had a distinctive logo next to their name, and there were only 50 on an entire server, so when you saw them or if you had one it was awesome, you were the man (5 different logo, ranked differently). The top 3 guilds on the server had these cool glowing arm bands- nobody else can get one. The best gear in the game, literally glowed- you can see them from a mile away. These are things you had to maintain and work for. If you didn’t log in for a week, someone else just got your PVP symbol, and perhaps your guild aren’t top 3 anymore. Nothing in WoW stands out- IDK about anyone else but I wouldn’t want to farm rep or a certain dungeon just for a title, or achievement points. Just by looking at characters, you cant really tell who has great gear - characters don’t stand out at all- a set of ilvl 380 gear can look the same as ilvl 340 and of course you can just transmog yourself entirely- so what is left, a title? If you even bother turning it on, and anyone reads it. All in all, I don’t think the ‘top tier’ rewards for actually putting in time into the game, and being a skilled player are accounted for. Sure you can get higher ilvl gear, and then what? What is there to maintain or work for? Achievement points for fishing? Cmon. MMO’s are about your character-and right now in WoW, its all looking and feeling bland.
MMO’s are about your character- I feel like something is missing, nothing in the game makes your character stand out or special if you just cleared 8/8 M, reached glad ranking in arena… a title and 10 achievements points doesn’t really cut it. Thoughts?
It’s very different than what it used to be. Not only did the most difficult content have unique gear and look, it was also only achieved by a relatively small number of players.
This is a big dilemma. The game wouldn’t have survived if it continued to lock out anyone but the most dedicated players, so instead it does a lot to make content at all levels repeatable.
Good question.
My answer is: a place to hang out and show off.
Boralus, players stand by the mailbox on a street that is narrow and poorly lit – that area should have been much bigger with better lights (I’m thinking the Commons in Iron Forge).
We DO want to show off – our new mount, pet, title, gear, toy and more. We were isolated in our garrison and in our class halls everyone looked the same and we didn’t hang out! Boralus could be fixed, it is not to late.
^The above, and a competent dev team. With the above “turned on” the dumpster fire called BfA would at least be more palatable, with the latter, we probably wouldn’t have as many issues, and certainly far less issues with flight.
