This is one version of the game where they can try different stuff, and you complain about wanting things to stay the same as a version of the game you can legit go play right now.
Here is the easy fix. Flex raid, 10-20 players, and 20-40 players. This means that the following raids will be doable with any number between 10-20 players - BFD, gnomer, sunken temple, AQ20, ZG.
The following raids will be doable with any number of players between 20-40 - MC, BWL, AQ40, Naxx.
Congratulations, you can now have an epic 40man experience with a bunch of mouth breathers while other people don’t have to.

Gnomeregan is harder than MC ever was.
Sadly classic wow spaghetti code doesnt allow flex raids, devs have already said this. It would potentially be a thing on classic+ if they actually dedicated enough resources to create classic+ properly.
