Okay, my misinterpretation. Thanks for clarifying! Caster mobility is cool though. Basically the only thing I liked when I tried playing a hunter (though I would not be puzzled at all to hear someone say they’re not hunters XD )
22 days later I realize the last word was supposed to be “casters”
I agree that it should just be a new spec… just not Warlock. Priests already dabble in the whole life and death thing. A Necromancer tree could add frost abilities and pets to a class that currently don’t use them. They’d likely need to sacrifice most, if not all of their holy abilities.
This one sounds the most interesting to me for a new class. Bran has some healing abilities that fit this theme in Delves, so we might have already had a sneak peek if the Tinker ends up being the new class. (not 100% sure putting potions on the ground is a safe mechanic, but it’s a mechanic.)
I’m tired of the concept of necromancers being presented as either its own thing that would invariably have to copy elements from other classes, or a parasite that can only live by latching onto another class.
“Necromancers should be a warlock spec!”
“No, a warlock class skin!” (class skins aren’t a thing)
“No, a warlock Hero spec!” (Hero specs cannot change a class’s entire theme and toolkit)
“No, a DK Hero spec!” (they can’t change your armor type and weapon proficiency, either)
“No, a mage spec!” (mages have even less to do with necromancy than warlocks)
“No, a priest spec!” (the majority of priests do not specialize in necromancy or frost magic)
Bolting parts of Frost and Unholy DK onto a class that has always been themed around a Light/Void dichotomy is even worse than doing the same to a class themed around demonic magic. While we’re at it, maybe they should just give every class a necromancer spec, so you can be a necromancer monk who raises the dead with chi, a necromancer evoker who raises the dead with their red dragon magic, or a necromancer rogue who uses gold to bribe corpses out of the ground.
Nope. Any semi-serious lore nerd will tell you they’re not the same. Cosmology chart specifics have even come into question/evolved over time as lore develops, as in how to interpret it. Shadow and Void may be related or even linked to an extent but there’s a reason there’s a distinction.
We’ve had 2 cosmology charts. The original one around Legion launch and then a 2nd one during Shadowlands. The first has Shadow(Void) and the second only has Shadow. They are the same thing.
Ethereal wouldn’t be a class. They have a variety of classes like any other race. Their main thing is Artificers, but we have Artificers of other races so it’d not be a locked to Ethereals class. Battlemage could also be a possibility with them, but would also not be locked to Ethereals.
Demon Hunter is already elf exclusive. We don’t need another elf focused class. If you want another race specific class it should be for a different race.
