Sylvanas manipulated her sister’s grief into attempting an assassination against Garrosh. Yes, both of them wanted Garrosh dead, but Sylvie goes one step further for her wanting Vareesa to be the one to do this. She wanted to have Vareesa isolate herself from the Alliance through the murder of Garrosh, so that she would have no-where else to turn but Sylvanas for support and protection (and Sylvie would then KILL her sister and revive her as an undead). This was just as much about control over Vareesa as it was about being united with her again.
Sylvie is a control freak … one that does not trust easily (and seemingly cannot bring herself to care about others she doesn’t have complete authority over; due to that lack of trust). She even states in “Three Sisters” that her sisters will SERVE HER in death … which is a pretty bold claim when you consider Alleria hates Sylvie (which suggests a lot about Sylvie’s ability to control those she resurrects…) Long story short … her LOVE is massively twisted and unhealthy for those around her (and MASSIVELY possessive too boot).
Well, Varessa was the one to start the plot and asked for Sylvanas to join her, not the other way around and was the one to ask her about the poison so she could use it to kill Garrosh. All of it was Varessa’s idea, including being the one to poison his food and Sylvanas never made the offer until Varessa already confessed she didn’t feel like she had anything really left in the Alliance. Just to repeat that, Varessa wanted to kill Garrosh herself, before Sylvanas made the offer to join the Forsaken.
Yes she didn’t tell her about painlessly killing her and raising her as a banshee, but with her family being the one to reach out to her and them managing to actually bond over the last little while, I don’t think she wanted to throw that big of a wrench in the works. Still messed up, yeah, but she didn’t manipulate her to do anything Varessa didn’t want to do already and her reward to opening up to her sister was more rejection.
And yes, she is a control freak, because nearly every time she leaves something to someone else to do something related to her desires, they mess it up rather extremely and from what little we get of her while she was still living, that doesn’t seem to be something new in undeath, only enhanced. Also, I think without doubt that’s really just a front she’s putting on for the dark rangers that are questioning her for not giving the order. What was she gonna tell them? I felt bad because my sister finally apologised for breaking up with me over text? No, you give some big death speech that makes her closest loyalists happy while also ending the comic on a big spooky note, and I think it’s pretty safe for her to assume she can’t actually do any undeath stuff to Alleria due to what she is, and she seems to know in pretty decent detail as Alleria asks us not to tell anyone what went down. Guess someone blabbed, or the writers forgot that it’s meant to be on the down low.
End of the day though, all this is largely irrelevant as she’ll be filling an antagonist role soon enough and she will just be uberevil all along.
