For a while now, WoW had been nipping at the heels of the leading MMO - FF14. But given how much time they’re investing in 9.2, do we think WoW will someday be able to unseat the reigning MMO king? Or is Final Fantasy, which has been around since 1987, just too entrenched?

In a perfect world, I’d like to think that not being #1 would cause the dev’s to work harder. With that in mind, I’d never want WoW to be top dog again

WoW is the best because it has the best random battleground PVP.
I was reading something recently about the early battle between electric vs. petrol cars, and the article said something like:
Gas car companies were less interested in winning the market and more interested in making a market they could win.
To that end, Blizzard may be winning now. Just not in the way the players want. I guess you’d have to ask the Shareholders.
This is probably true. But it also makes me want to jump out the window. WoW PVP needs so much work, and just because everything else is worse doesn’t make it good.

If a different game is similar to WoW and can do random battlegrounds better, that would be amazing. I don’t see anything even close. So, it might be safe to just relax and enjoy your time here.

Absolutely not. To be content is to not care. If you love something, you’re going to want it to be the best version of itself.

We need a higher level of technology to handle that. Did the inventors of the world retire? We haven’t seen better tech in a while.

Who cares? Wow could be the lowest ranked MMO (in whatever way you rank MMOs) and it wouldn’t matter as long as I still enjoy it.

Wow is #1 MMO to me, why? Because it’s the only MMO I play so
other MMOs don’t matter.

But I had a crazy idea with a friend when we were talking in voice chat;
It actually is along these lines.
What if Zovall is successful in his attempts and we have to instead go on a ‘reparative’ mission? Is that crazy? Probably.
They would need to have a Legion-like big expansion, then go F2P to complete a red giant status before the inevitable collapse into obscurity.
I would hope, at that point, they leased out the IP to studios that take the work more seriously.

Good, I hope he wins. I would start this all over from the beginning.
Let your hero wake up as a nobody, a forgotten hero flung into the future of Azeroth.
Change up the factions, create new villians.
Improve the old world by giving them GW2 style mounts. Create a story for the player character the way FF14 and SWTOR does it.
So much stuff they can do but they give us subpar garbage.
