What Was Your First Fantasy Computer or Console Game?

Wow I forgot about those games, I was a little young for them. I remember thinking it was hilarious that you could do a ‘bodily function’ in the back of the cab then the cabby would give you crap about it lol.

Not to mention that you could catch AIDS from a prostitute.

I was basically born with games, with the NES and SNES, a Gameboy and even a Game Gear, but the N64 we got for Christmas was the first console I could expressly call “mine”, and I’ve been a Nintendo fan since

My first fantasy game was…some N64 hack and slash game that I don’t even know the name of and can’t find hide or hair of its existence

Heros of Might and Magic.

I didn’t play it but I saw my old man playing it.

Drakan: Order of the Flame. Old PC game that was basically Lara Croft with dragons and orcs. Baby Svelte loved the crud out of that game. Its PS2 exclusive sequel Drakan: The Ancients’ Gates even got me onto console gaming.

Looking back, they’re not really great games. Nostalgia still has me loving them though. I was so emotionally invested in Rynn and Arokh’s dynamic and the whole story. Especially the sequel really tied things together, and was a great follow-up on what it looks like for the impoverished chosen-one style hero’s life after saving the world, and interacting with kings and courts and all that nonsense.

Almost no one has heard of them, I find, but when you get someone who knows it, it’s a fun connection to make. Now that I finally have a good rig again, I need to find an emulator and play through them again.

I can’t remember what the first game was honestly, the first game I remember interacting with other players online was Nox, then I found a game called Redmoon online that I played a ton of.

Dragon Warrior/Quest 1 is the earliest fantasy game I remember playing. Dragon Quest is still one of my favorite video game series to this day, and I wish it was more popular in the USA so I can play more games from the series.

Dragon Warrior on the NES. I had a 2600 but I do not think I had any fantasy games for it…

edit: O wait Krull if that counts.

Moria, on the Apple 2.

It was a roguelike with ASCII graphics. Apparently there was a balrog at the bottom of the dungeon; I never made it anywhere near there as a kid.

Mine was also Adventure for the Atari Video Computer System (later named the 2600). I played quite a few text-based RPG’s on the TRS-80, Commodore 64 (loved The Bards Tale series!), and eventually moved up to console games like Final Fantasy III (VI in Japan) for the SNES…
