What was the worst time for u in wow and why?

WoD
Everything about the expansion just seemed like Blizzard didn’t want people to play it.

The intro line was way too long and buggy, the characters were just “what ifs?” of WC2 and 3 names.

I love AU stories, AU is a fun chance to shake things up and take a different look at something. WoD did not do that. Everything happened basically the same way in the end…until the legion showed up and we were all supposed to forget that this Iron Horde wasn’t a massive antagonist for the whole expansion prior.

“They didn’t drink the blood tho!” yeah and it changed nothing.

I think the worst one for me was Shadowlands. I would usually retreat to PvP to find casual delights in random BGs, but they made it really bad with those item levels for rating there, so I just cancelled my sub.

WoD was the first burn out episode though. Somehow until WoD every expansion I would have some event that kept it fresh. But WoD was the first one that felt like just another expansion, and the hamster wheel became apparent for the first time.

They had grand plans that WoD was supposed to set up and start. Faster release cadence, etc.
Then dropped it well prior to even the halfway point of the expansion. Which turned what could have been an alright or mid but enjoyable expansion and just made it a waiting room for literally anything else imo.

bits were fun, I was mostly solo for this expansion so garrisons were neat once you finished ANOTHER required intro quest explaining them.

I had no issue with Thrall and Jaina’s failure to comply with OSHA standards. It was mostly the 30 second phase transition for EVERY SINGLE PHASE with the actual fight not really starting until P3.

Dragonflight, weirdly enough.

I personally loved it at first, and one of my IRL friends came back to play. We both liked the flying stuff.

We did 2’s arena together, enjoyed it, had fun.

But then Ret paladins got their rework, and started smashing everyone.

It go to the point where he just quit, citing class balance as his reasoning.

Was tired of getting stomped by Paladins. (They were FoTM, in every arena. People would reroll to get free high ranks in shuffle, too.)

They got nerfed later, but it was too late, he was gone.

Going forward, I played alone, got pretty sad as a result. Still kinda am.

Him coming back, was the first time I had an IRL friend play WoW with me since MoP.

So, yeah.

I still play games with him occasionally, just never WoW anymore.

Garrisons were really a trap, because you could easily burn yourself out just minimaxin them. And it was so enticing as an MMO player.

I did like ret paladin spec design in it though. I think it was one hightlight of it for me.

In BC I ran a Guild with 2 other GM’s, the other 2 suddenly decided they wanted to be “progression only”.

I thought that was preposterous, as it alienated much of the Guild, I ran the short bus raid group, we had a blast and if the main raid needed back ups we had it covered.

I thought we could do both.

But egos got in the way, I know one of them had gotten into it with another Guild, so I assumed that was the catalyst.

I got asked to make a new Guild by the non-raiders but my heart was broken, I didn’t want anything to do with Guilds anymore.

It was a super sad time for me, a lot of guildies were mad at me for walking away, and when I started playing Wrath I was pretty much on my own, a stark contrast to the previous few years.

It is weird how something can be tainted by unrelated circumstances.

Dragonflight pushed me to other games.

For me it was BfA and SL. …because I wasn’t playing. =(

Preach it. Horrible class and set balance, ungodly lag, random d/c, patches that lasted days, events crashing servers, raids dropping gear for the opposite faction. Vanilla was terrible. The quality of internet connections and PC’s back then didn’t help.

Silver lining: WoW got better afterwards. Massive drop off with WoD-BFA, full on engine failure plane crash with SL, DF back on track. TBW, needs improvement.

And somehow they were still worse at it than NCSoft at the time. (Though I did still have issues with connection with CoH on occasion.)

Shadowlands, because, even at it’s best, it never felt like WoW with no way to fly between zones except through portals.
And then there were the character assassinations… etc, etc, etc.

First it was the time after Dragon Soul when Alexstrasza lost her aspect powers and wasn’t a part of the story anymore for like 5 expansions, but then it was even worse when Dragonflight happened and I thought she was gonna be cool again and then they just made her useless for the entire expansion instead
