What the social contract really is

streamers a lot of time get special immunity to auto reporting because of people abusing the system to mass report a individual.

imagine calling some a bad word because they were trolling your group and he gets his friends to mass report you for using a bad word!

I think some corners of the classic community are unsavory (I suspect primarily former pserver players, who have a significant overlap with 4chan users) but yeah as a whole I don’t think it’s any worse than the retail community.

If its not illegal, pretty much ignore the person and leave it at that.
biased mods are bad enough…we dont need masses of biased players outing each other over every slight.
USE the IGNORE…‘problem’ solved

Um, you must have been Alliance then because there was never anything like Barrens chat before, or since.

It put modern day trade to shame.

Maybe you personally have cause for concern. I know I don’t.

I really don’t think this “social contract” changes anything.

Lol imagine playing a version of wow full of world PvP griefing until players log out and saying it’s less toxic

Y’all live on another planet

It’s philosophy :woman_facepalming:

“Yes let the government see all our text messages I have nothing to hide what’s the problem “

You are the wow version of this

I mean PvP server players have always been pretty nasty, and that legacy continues on in war mode today. Stranglethorn Vietnam “memes” existed for years before Classic was ever a thing.

False equivalence aside, I still don’t have anything to worry about. Neither do you. You’ll be okay.

I played on a PvP server. But it really wasn’t that toxic. Everyone that rolled on a PvP server knew what they were getting into. Dieing in PvP isn’t toxicity.
Toxicity was probably much worse on PvE servers due to boredom playing the same game again.

I agree here. Its also a nice little page where Blizz can say look at what we ask of our community because we care so much. (which they may or may not… thats not up to me to decide)

There has been an /ignore feature since day one.

The thing is that people with agendas don’t care about an ignore feature.

Everyone else must change their behavior because of people who are pushing an ideology refuse to use the options that are given to them.

The propaganda never stops.

I dont see any problem with this.
“do your best” isnt a rule

While in Azeroth, do your best to:

  • Connect with other players and make friends! Being courteous in group content can help you and your teammates have the best time possible. Sending a friendly hello message can help set your group up for success.

  • Play as a team with your fellow players - whether in dungeons, raids, battlegrounds, arenas, or out questing in the world. Do your best to support your team through your communication and behaviors so that you can all celebrate your success together.

  • Assist other players that you encounter in the world. Maybe they need some help defeating a tough monster, or maybe they could use a little healing!

  • Help answer questions others have in chat channels like General or Trade. We were all newbies once - one person offering some help can go a long way!

We recognize that the Internet is not always a safe haven. With that in mind, please note that the following behaviors are not accepted in Azeroth:

  • Hate speech, including negative comments that target another player’s identity, including aspects like race, gender, or ability

  • Harassment, threats, or abusive / derogatory language and behaviors

  • Spamming, advertising, or other disruptive behaviors

  • If you harm your fellow adventurers with any of the above behaviors, you are subject to punishment up to and including suspension of your account.

My question is…is camp ganking ‘disruptive behaviors’ ?
sure seems like it would be to me

No, what’s sad is a group of people who think they have the right to treat others like garbage and/or spout slurs/hate speech as much as they want without any fear of repercussions. They then say its people being offended by everything or something similar that’s the problem (really sad attempt at deflecting the blame).

Act like a decent person and you have nothing to worry about.

Everquest 2 was like this.

People would hit max level then head to the starting area and just kill every new person they could find.

The game died twice.

Naaa, it’s so easy, don’t be a tool and you have nothing to worry about.

Oh philosophy and not reality.

Got it.

Oh for sure. I would not be surprised if this is mainly for optics (I mean. It is.)

After all these lawsuits and drama and whatnot, they gotta show they are making changes anyway they can. Which, from all the news clips and stuff that people link here, seems to be exactly what they are doing.

I remember the days when Blizzard as a company had a damned good reputation. I think they are trying to get back to something like that.

I don’t think you’ve got it, no :skull:
