What Should Blizzard Put In Their Novels?

Should they be prequels leading up to an expansion, or self contained stories? Do players want major characters to lead the story, or is it better to focus on new characters?

I would like some world building.

I do feel that novels are a great to lead up to an expansion by setting up some plot points, especially when they are able to give us insight into the character’s head. Though I do think their should be an-game equivalent so that more people are aware of things that occur within the novel and how it relates to the game.

For example in the upcoming Shadows Rising there seems to be tension between the Horde and the Zandalari based on the preview. The Speaker of the Horde (Horde players) could easily be shoe horned into a quest chain that deals with aiding Talanji and Zekhan in some manner.

I think it would be best to focus on existing and new characters. This way these major characters are still advanced but we can breath some new live into the setting with new characters.
