Rather than a vague question…
My max parse for anything that actually matters is like a mid-high blue (when adjusted for ilvl), often green. It won’t get any better, because that parse is usually due to a weird build I make up to be able to enjoy the spec a tiny bit without burning out instantly – but is numerically just worse.
What role/spec would that be least detrimental on?
Let’s assume there are no other issues; mechanics are 100% fine, movement is fine, I don’t die if I’m a tank, people don’t usually die if I’m a healer (I just have to work harder), uptime is great if I’m on aug, and all that. It’s just a pure output issue.
What’s the least detrimental?

DPS is the only role people look at numbers so I would guess healer or tank providing you are doing the job.

If a player “is fine with underperforming” what does it matter what spec it is?
Still underperforming.

It’s that or burn out after a few days and quit for 3 weeks on a loop.
role, dps. it’s always been dps, it’s why it’s the most populated role. more people than you think load up dps and mindlessly jam their 1br while watching netflix and fly completely under the radar, because 1) their co-dps pick up the slack, or 2) theyre all selling equally so nobody stands out for not paying attention
healer has to be paying attention so people don’t die, and tank sets the pace of the group so they always have to be present in some degree
spec is mostly irrelevant, though i feel like marksmanship hunter has the least they have the least to worry about. ranged so you dont have to worry about cleaves, can cast while moving, with plenty of panic buttons to get out of responsibility free
aug may also work since their dps is lower by default so nobody will pick on you for being suck, but evoker as a class is also more complex so maybe not

I don’t think you read the post at all bro.
nah, i did. if you can mindlessly march through content while watching netflix, you’ll be fine as an under/average performer
your skill as a dps is less impactful to the group than your skill as a tank/healer, and hunter as a class is basically on-rails

I mean I can do content and not pay attention just fine, but I usually raid lead so I do have to pay attention. It’s not an issue of paying attention or mechanics, it’s an issue of I have to intentionally gimp myself with weird builds to stay awake, but said weird builds are garbage and do not perform.
i think the term you are looking for then is ‘low skill floor’, not ‘underperform and be fine’. or maybe not. its 7 am and im tired
evoker would probably work since like i said, aug has the lowest dps by proxy of being a ‘support’ spec so even if youre not at peak efficiency nobody will notice outside of like +20s

I like this option for you. Would spare GD like ten troll threads a day

We all know its literally Augmentation evokers. That is the only answer because nobody really know how well you are actually doing.

This question is predicted on the assumption that whatever spec you pick (or are offered here) will have the exact same properties of a boring rotation, and a slightly modified spec that’s a little worse performing, but somehow more enjoyable for you personally. That’s absurd.
They never quit despite claiming to every other day lol

They will. Class design has been horrendous since WoD, and is especially bad now with the “pruning” going into Midnight.
Not just a little. Usually around 30-40% worse.
But yes, they tend to be a little more engaging. I try to take more buttons, more RNG, more procs, more synergies. Not just a bunch of passives buffing up one button.
Healer is the least important roll in the vast majority of content.
In super organized stuff where people aren’t taking a lot of avoidable damage, for sure.
But what about pugging and chaotic content? Could you get away with it in like mythic raiding or higher keys with a blue-green healer?
Mythic Raids and Dungeons are minority content over the scope of the game. Thank you for confirming my point. Any other content with pugs, healers are not even needed with a good tank, I often times ask healers to ignore me just to see if I will take significant damage without them.
in what context
because for most people it’s probably healer who can get away with being tabbed to social media half of the time

In the context of pug raiding (I’d like to prog mythic beyond the first few) and keys. In TWW I was 3800 on my aug, and I’d like to try for 4k. But I feel bad doing stuff as DPS when I’m intentionally gimping my damage.
