giving blizzard money
plenty of hardcore MMOs before wow had lesser punishments, and even among those with permadeath there was still a continuity. Turns out permadeath with no progression is not sustainable as an MMO model.
Community harassment. Pretty much if you play enough there are lots of obsessive losers that will make the game hell for you. Blizzard will do nothing.
I only speak of WoW hardcore, and ever since 2012, hardcore WoW was one life.
The fact that the servers are intentionally made worse to introduce variables that would kill you that otherwise wouldnât exist, like dcâing you 4 times in a row when you pull a pack of mobs or hyperspawns that otherwise wouldnt be a hyperspawn.
Thatâs just cheap. If I die I want it to be my fault, not because the game is literally intentionally being designed worse such that its unstable
Especially when it makes all my effort worthless because the only servers I can transfer to after death are era servers that are riddled with bots and GDKP runs.
The way wow is design I see no other way, as losing xp wonât open quests for you to do again. And losing gold really doesnât matter (you can transfer all to other char). Same thing for losing items, as many items are unique/obtainable through quests.
One life for HC is the best way. Also it keeps every content on the server alive with people always across all zones/level/dungeons
You would get popped first fight and cry
Isnt the whole loop stay out of caves, only do green level content?
exactly. youâd have to grind it back up the oldschool way. dungeons or the farming fields.
This is a lot of it, but there is a considerable amount if either knowing through research ahead of time, or experience obtained from dying from over reach that can come into play. I tend to stick around level -2 for farming things. But I wonât let any orange kill task or collect X of this stuff from stopping me from doing orange content. Trying to do an orange Escort quest, or even a yellow escort quest alone on the other hand⌠yeah, those can suck if you try to nut up and rambo them solo. If youâve endured enough deaths you definitely learn those thresholds, and it wonât kill you to ask in chat if anyone wants to do those harder things. Chances are they have a handful of those harder ones in a quest list and would gladly hook up to get them done.
The fact that an extra +1 of a stat on gear can be huge, vs. retail where +10,000 of a stat might not matter.
2025 has been a Classic Era Renaissance for me.
