Sometimes I have a really hard time finding a good name. Especially in this realm. I was hoping for something short and settled with special characters. It has its pro’s and cons but really wish I didnt have to. Every variation of a name I seem to like is generally taken.

I use compound names of two words. They sound good and tend to be available.
Don’t do special characters, they’re the worst for trying to message someone.

Sometimes I try to alter a section of a random name to soemthing I like more. but often try to find a name with a ‘pun’ cuz funny names are nice.
I’m on a full realm too and while it’s not quite as big as yours, I just keep trying until I get something I like.
It’s getting harder and harder lately. During the last name release, I snag a bunch of good ones to try to trade for something I’m looking for. I really wish the requirements for a name to be release weren’t so ridiculous.
Find a new name. I can’t stand special characters.
Blizz needs to add the option for us to have one space, hyphen or apostrophe in our names.

Ive been trying names every day since BFA hoping for a name release and so far they still wont show up in wow armory but they still arent released either.
I made sure i went to a realm that had my name avaliable
Well, unfortunately Blizzard’s policy is that your bnet must be inactive for 4 years.
Notice I didn’t say WoW account.

I have tried that in the past but the economy is so horrible on smaller servers.
I just wait for a wave of names to get freed up then go and punch in the top 1000 popular names on my preferred realms until I snag a few that I like. 
again? another person saying this. IS there an announcement when names are released? I attempt it every day and most def every expansion release and get no luck.
I don’t think so. I just hear from a friend that they got the name Jack on a high pop or something and start checking. 
It’s not an exact science. Kind of annoying because it’s hard to get an okay name on a good realm.
I take inspiration from music, anime, variations of my own name, whatever I like. This guy’s name is a mix of Ziggy (my hamster’s name) and Joestur (my usual username on stuff inspired by anime).

yeah I thought about Tazerface. lol
I either use the in-game Randomizer, a fantasy name generator, or if the names taken Google Translate to see how it’s spelled in a different language or use the pronunciation spelling.
But it means my paladin Lüçille never gets spam messages!
it is nice to not be targeted by pvp playters in your own faction or bots though yes.

One for my tallies & the other for my smallies.
As for creatvie names?
Uah they’re not so creative, some of them are just two words that kinda fit the theme of w/e I’m goin’ for.
Got a Void elf DK named Winterhawk.
Oh! and my Tauren druid, Peacebloom.

Most of my characters : randomize name, looks good? Ok take it. Doesn’t? Hit randomize again.
