Going back to when I originally watched them in the late 60’s it would be Speed Racer, 8th Man and Gigantor. They were unlike any “cartoons” I’d ever seen.
Burn all Anime. Anime is gross.
SSSHHH it’s okay. People like different things and that’s okay. Let people enjoy things
I think my first “not saturday morning cartoon” anime moment was when the disney channel held a special thing where their english dub of Kiki’s Delivery Service would play.
That movie just had me pretty much hypnotized or just tranquil as a kid. I was around 8 or 9 I think.
dragonball z. i even got a tattoo of a single start dragon ball. lol.
It can’t remember it,it was a long series jealousy, adventure ,had a little lgbt in it but a good anime.
My current anime is Tokyo revengers but when I finish I will change to another one.
Inyuasha , I think it’s spelled.
My favorite at the moment are cozy simple life anime’s. Farming life in another world is on top of that list right now.
Of the shows I’ve seen, I’m not sure if there are any I’d really call my favorite. I suppose there are four that come close; Samurai Champloo, Cromartie High School, Sword of the Stranger and Tsukikage Ran. I’d also like to give an honorable mention to Initial D, which would rank higher if I personally saw more of it.
Claymore
Berserk 1997
‘86’.
2 Seasons. Story isn’t over, but the 2 seasons let the anime come to a reasonable stopping point that isn’t just hanging awkwardly halfway through an ongoing story as happens way too often in anime adaptations.
I’m not really into mecha, but the spider tanks are neat and this one is very much character driven more than anything else anyway. I know a lot of weebs who skipped over this one. Give it a shot if you haven’t seen it.
I have some older ones that might ring more bells for people based on what I’m seeing in other comments, but I see them more as the things that got me into the genre rather than the top of my list of favorites overall, tbh.
Ergo Proxy got me to give the medium another chance after writing off the whole thing due to 3 bad impressions in a row prior to it.
Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood was the first “big” series I watched and loved.
A lot of the Adult Swim era stuff that a lot of people remember fondly I just never watched properly. I was a kid, I didn’t seek it out, so I saw random episodes of a bunch of stuff and don’t have any attachment to any of them.
I’m not sure what my favourite is but Cowboy Bebop, Ergo Proxy, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, Time of Eve, Death Note, and Spirited Away to name a few are all incredibly fantastic (but there’s many more and I can’t remember the names of them all right now).
I vote for Violet Evergarden, so beautiful and soulful.
A dying soldier tells Violet, who is writing a letter on his behalf to his parents: “If you’re ever reincarnated… and marry each other again, I would want to be your son again.”

This one’s on my shortlist of favorite anime too. The movie also!
Tbh I forget most anime I watch before too long. Don’t know if that just means I don’t find them memorable or if I just have a bad memory. Either way, Violet Evergarden is one that stuck with me.
Top 3 for me in no particular order.
1: Trigun
2: Outlaw Star
3: Initial D
Edit: Interested in checking out Wangan Midnight if I can find it.
Hunter x Hunter and Claymore are the few animes I can watch again and again. Masterpieces!
Omg! Omg, your taste is impeccable!!! Nausicaa is one of my favorite movies of ALL time!! Have u seen Earthsea?! Also a lovely movie!!
Cowboy bebop
Honorably mentions
kaguya-Sama wants to be confessed to

Don’t bully me nagatoro
But my favorite series of all time across any medium is the Manga dungeon meshi. The anime comes out in January. It’s a dungeon crawling/cooking fantasy series and every wow player will absolutely love it. Being adapted by
A great studio also (trigger). Everyone must watch
