What is with paladins and hammers?

The brain tissue kinda diminishes the pure bloodiness of it. At first.

what do you want to have
1 a hammer easy to replace or fix smashes evil beings
2 a sword can be chipped loose its edge bouncing off armor

I get what your saying but hammers to Paladins are weapons that you can use to build or destroy, just like the paladin can hurt or heal  :v:t5:

It’s general fantasy bleeding into warcraft fantasy.
The hammer is the long arm of the law, and paladins are fantasy cops.

Cuz Stanley Burrell was the real first Paladin.

Hammers (maces) have always been a thing, and most of the hammers tied to pallies are a spell. Swords are still viable, but not the only canon. My earthen pally prefers a dawrven axe to go with his shield.

Basically in WC3 Uther used a hammer and the paladin hero had a hammer and since they’re not creative they just kept doing that and copying from WC3 and now it’s a thing.

Tirion was also using a hammer until his power level went over 9000 and he reached super saiyan form. Then he started using a sword. But they didn’t like how that felt so he got burned to death by a random demon in the legion intro despite being more powerful than the literal lich king. Seems improbable but the message was clear, no more swords, more hammers.

Anduin is dressed like a paladin for some reason and uses a sword but he just got it in the estate inheritance from his father who was also randomly killed in the legion intro and he is actually a priest.

Arthas was also using a hammer. Then he decided it’d be cooler to use a sword but that made him so evil that he killed half the world. Message clear: hammers good, swords bad.

Retadins don’t seem too bashful about big sharp blades. Tauren ret Sunwalkers in particular are cool with swords.

Something something “a hammer is a tool that can build or destroy”

Hammers are symbols of justice, think a gavel. When yiu cast judgement, what you are doing is willing the hammer into existance made out of yiur desire to punish evil.

Yeah Uther was the first paladin & he had a hammer. So did Arthas when he was a paladin. That’s where it comes from in WoW. Also correct me if I’m wrong but didn’t Turalyon not start out as a paladin? Wasn’t he a different class at the beginning?

I’ve been around a while. more than 250 years and I can tell you this. It started as a Dwarf thing. You know dwarves and their hammers.

Sadly, it was intimidating to the humans, so they started doing it. You know humans.

Then when everyone else saw two groups doing it, they did it too. You know how everyone else is.

It’s actually a lot simpler than people are trying to say.

Warriors are swords. Paladins then are hammers, because swords were already taken. And Death Knights are left with axes. Just check out the class icons and see for yourselves!

Seriously, though, I guess they just thought that going full hammer was going to be their take on the Paladin.

D&D Paladins aren’t D&D Clerics, though. Paladins started as a Fighter prestige class, and never had weapon restrictions like Clerics did.
