Nobody ever asks “How is trolling”
When is trolling?
This is more along the line with how I believe “trolling” is enforced. If enough people don’t like it: it’s trolling.
If I were supporting the gay rights to marriage in the early 2000s it could be constituted as trolling because too many people disagreed with the idea. But personally, I wouldn’t have considered that trolling.
Trolling is when you decide to race change to a troll
Similar to Dwarfing, Taurening, or Orcing
I wish Ztrolls could be Warlocks.
On the 4th thread on the same topic in a day. Your opinion can go in the 60th post, folks. We don’t need a new thread.
Spam and obvious concern trolls. I don’t really flag tho… mostly mute threads.
Better watch out cuz I got baited by troll and nothing is even done to trolls here.
Yeah but again, I’d say this is more along the lines of spamming than trolling. But I agree when a single subject is referred to too often in a single day. It’s easier to view it as trolling.
trolling is what people think is happening to them when they meet someone with a different opinion then them
real trolls just try to get a rise out of you and wont actually have a discussion with you
threads like that “WoW is the best MMO in the world” are made by trolls
Trolling is doing something purely for a response.
The etymology of “trolling” comes from the fishing term, “troll” (the internet version) came later.
Posting something with the sole intention of causing a negative reaction. This does not include posts that are provocative or controversial as long as they are reasoned and explained logically. A true troll post has no intention of convincing others of anything.
Too often people label anything they disagree with as trolling.
As for flagging, it’s got to be something pretty awful for me to bother flagging.
Unfortunately this doesn’t seem to be how trolling is enforced against though. But it should be.
Intent and attitude (wording, post history). If the subject is currently being spammed, that might be relevant. Insults are a pretty solid indicator. Low post count characters + controversial topic often suggests somebody’s throwaway alt, especially if the person posts a lengthy diatribe on X subject, and then says nothing later as the thread riles up.
A lot of ways one can troll and what it looks like.
Search for a forum poster named “Shreds” (level 10 demon hunter) and read his comments and posts. That will give you a very good example of a forum troll.
I was thinking about someone else in this context, a certain Human Paladin.
Talking like I’m from the Caribbean, practicing some lite voodoo, and engaging in the occasional capoeira
Isn’t that exactly what a troll would say in defense?
You know very well how subjective this statement is.
Using it as a defense is a poor strategy.
In all fairness yes I agree that the statement wasn’t offensive ( to me) but you know how some will react.
Show me where a moderator has ever sanctioned anyone for using the Sunday meme and then we can talk.
