You not liking something optional =/= bad game design
No, something being such a massive portion of the game and being completely irrelevant at all stages of the game is what makes it bad game design.
It’s something optional that offers cosmetics and conveniences in your covenant zone. It’s not bad game design just because it’s not mandatory content. Not everything needs to be mandatory content, that would actually be bad game design.
No one ever said it had to be mandatory. Stop creating a false narrative to fit your argument.
It’s a currency not tied to player power that they can give is endlessly as a sort of consolation prize. But unless you care about collecting all the things it does feel pretty pointless.
It’s the new Azerite?
No it’s not. Like, not at all.
Azerite power was useful at least.
If it was tied in any way to power progression it would effectively be mandatory.
It is as far as I know only tied to cosmetic things, which is a good thing. You only need to get 1000 a week for the renown which should be easy as there is like 6 weekly things that give 150-250 each.
Oh, did you scry that information from your crystal ball?
No form of (A WORD) Power has been mandatory for anyone outside of the top 0.22% of players. It wouldn’t be “mandatory” at all if it were useful. My god, get real. Stop deluding yourself with your pettiness.
I think this is true, aside from your weekly renown, anima is mostly there for cosmetic type stuff-which is fine.
I don’t know if you understand how the game works or what but if there is a method for power progression and you’re choosing not to use it you are going to get left behind even if you’re not in the “0.22%”
Requirements and obligations for raiding guilds and m+ groups don’t just disappear outside the top 1%
I’ve never bothered to needlessly grind anything and I’ve never had any problems. It’s not a thing. It’s a load of bs spun up out of nowhere for literally no reason. I got aotc in legion and pushed high keys in bfa without ever doing islands, warfronts, or any grinding outside of some WQ’s for AP.
You’re living in a false dichotomy and projecting.
You consider it pointless because it opens things that you aren’t interested in. By that same token other people are interested in the achievements, toys, battlepets, reputations, transmogs, additonal elites, and quick transport hubs.
The point of it is if you are solely interested in pvp or raids or high keystone you don’t need to do it beyond the 1000 a week. But if you are interested in the many other things the game offers it gives additional things to do.
The only thing I really dislike is that it’s what’s given as a consolation prize when you receive nothing at the end of m+. Just gimme more gold if you have nothing to give me.
Okay dude. You can believe whatever you want even if it completely goes against all precedent. Just don’t care about the anima unlocks, it’s not that hard.
It’s not. I think you are too programmed by azerite and artifact power. This is more akin to old rep currencies. It buys cosmetic things and upgrades the sanctum. Nice optional things.
Cosmetics and improving mobility in you covenant zone
