My most crazy grind is trying to earn the Title Predator from WoD that involves Rep grind and killing that one Dreadlord. It isn’t difficult, just tedious.
Reborn weapons from Mists of Pandaria
Started working on it back in February and, after a three month break from WoW, still have about 33 more days to go.
Which reminds me…
You talking about the Blacksmith weapons from… was it MoP? Where there are like 3 tiers?
Grinding rep for netherwing mount in BC. Probably wasn’t objectively the worst, but I usually don’t grind rep so it stands out to me.
I don’t know if it was necessarily a “grind”, but getting this done in 2010 was probably mine:
Wintersaber Trainers
I was the first and only person in my guild to have a mount at level 40 back in 1.0 times. I did so by farming Mithril Ore and selling on the AH.
Prot. Warrior on foot looking for Ore…
500 Honor level mount
Warlord of Draenor title
Loremaster title
~300 attempts to beat ret paladin mage tower challenge in SL
100 reputations mount
My Deputy Pa’trolla Badge https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=43555/deputy-patrolla-badge.
I was hell bent on getting the thing, for some reason, and spent an unreasonable amount of time waiting for it to drop.
That was easy peasy for me…I wear that title all the time too…main reason I wear it is not the achievement for it but cause of all the Honor Kills I have…I know it had nothing to do with Honor Kills but that title just sounds like a Honor Kill title to me.
The original honor system in vanilla. I made it to rank 12 (out of the 14 possible ranks) but I didn’t have the ability to advance further do to the limited number for the upper ranks and you basically had to earn more honor than someone else to advance.
The 5 million for my longboi. I went the raw gold route. Ran old raids over, and over and over for several months. As many toons as I could stomach. Made in the range of 175k to 297k per week. The main one was BRF, and I never want to see that place again! I saw the mount drop six times! That’s how many times I ran it!
I leveled a brand new character in Wrath from 0 to 80 and worked through the entire Warlock Epic Mount quest chain, by myself, completely solo, with zero help from anyone and with having no funds from any other characters to draw on since it was a new account and this was my only toon. I rode that standard speed Felsteed ground mount all the way through level 69, which is when I finally obtained my epic Dreadsteed mount from the quest chain. I continued leveling to 80, still solo and without help. I never joined a group with others until I’d been max level for a good while.
Anyone who thinks all that is trivial or easy, you go try it in Wrath Classic. Good luck.
Grand Marshal back on 2004. PvP 15 hours per day…
Got sick a few times doing it.
Oh yeah.
I have Bloodmoon reborn, Stormherald reborn and Wicket Edge of the Planes reborn still to go and then I will be done!
Playing Vanilla. The whole thing is a crazy grind.
- leveling an Enchanter Profession as a Warrior (looks stupid at start but later paid off)
- farming Wintergrasp over and over for Icy Chill Enchant mats (but it got me epic mount, the first one from the guild)
- farming Stratholme Living for Righteous Orbs over and over to sell Crusader’s Enchant to get gold for my raiding/pvp consumables.
- farming 5-man dungeons over and over for pre-raid gear… Fire Resist Gear
- farming BWL over and over for more than 50 weeks… never seen Ashkandi dropped
- doing endless PvP while progressing to Naxx40 on PvE… repeatedly face High Warlord groups on WSG and Arathi Basin. I finished Lt Commander but I have Naxx 40 stuffs.
- endless free carry runs on 45 min Baron Stratholme for Frayed Abomination Stitchings for my Breastplate of Chromatic Flight… got it though but not seen Baron Rivendare’s Mount drop
I realized how bad the grind was in Vanilla when I replayed Classic. All I did in Classic was just minimum. I should have redone enchanting again. LW is boring although I got full set piece of pre-raid gear allowing me to top DPS as level 57 when we first did Molten Core. I was the guild leatherworker. Dragonscales grinding were easy on me. The guild let me know when they were farming dragonkins. I just go where they go even though I was not high level enough for its monsters but my skinning was max’d out. When I reached level 60, my day 1 was killing Ragnaros, my day 7 was killing Onyxia. ROFL. I hate the grinds. I was raidlogging with no epic mount in Classic. I farmed them in Vanilla. I wont do it again.
I was raidlogging and unkillable on 5-man dungeons. I got Raid gear making me faceroll Classic dungeons on Normal difficulty? I am an M+15 player. I can never be killed by bosses/ mobs at Normal difficulty even if my feign death is on cd. I left Classic becoz of boredom and also becoz I refuse to further grind. I grinded my Bee mount in Retail instead enjoying M+ and BFA corruptions.
Insane 3 times
Loremaster
The Esteemed
The Mechagon Meta
Getting to Warlord easily stands out as the worst for me. Nearly quit the game for good after it was over and almost swore off pvp entirely since then.
I did The Wardens dailies every single day for the entire duration of legion and BFA for paragon chests in order to get the 1% toy drop.
I did eventually get the toy in the shadowlands prepatch.
I also got every single legion legendary and enough waking essence to get them all to max.
Scarab Lord, though it wasn’t my account.
Never again, lol.
