I thought it was hinted that it wasn’t necessarily Amirdrassil, but the world soul Azeroth – Through Amirdrassil, as a reward for helping save it?
Tyr is sort of a mere clone than an actual revive, as we didn’t really locate his soul & pour it in. Merely got a hard-drive with his memories and rammed it into a body shaped like his old form
But yeah, he was kind of whatever. lol
They could’ve addressed that better.
Like “Share food & drink with the others!” where you interact with other NPCs to ‘Clink Arc-wine glasses with X character’ or ‘Share food with X dragon’ etc – and then go to X location where you freeze at the destination and have the aspects walk to you then have them raise a toast to you and the other heroes honour.
I was personally hoping to see the Dragons like the ones we saw in the Vortex Pinnacle like Altairus, or the Stonecore such as Slabhide etc.
They would’ve been really cool to see have a place in the Dragon-Isles and as a recognised dragon-society.
Tyr’s story is ongoing and will continue into the next expansion. We JUST revived him. He has to have time to come to terms with how long it’s been since he sacrificed himself and how much the world has changed since then.
This is incorrect. While the DISK we found was a backup of his memories and personality he made before going off to face Zakajz, we also went to his tomb and got the rest of his memories off of what was left of his corpse.
While if he was a living flesh and blood person this would make him a clone, remember that Tyr was a construct to begin with. We did make a new body for him (so he no longer has the silver hand), but this is still every bit as much Tyr as the original was.
Pretty much the entire story was mediocre at best, but I think the most disappointing thing was the whole Nozdormu/Murozond nonsense. All those years of bronze dragon lore and “what on earth could have happened?” speculation, hand waved away with an “Eh, it all just sort of fixed itself somehow.”
I liked Tyr ending up being a “wow, I’m no longer needed” ending. I don’t believe that’s true (as Blizzard is going to cook up something awful for everyone to face), but I could see him feeling that way. For anyone who’s “gone home” only to have home completely unrecognizable, this speaks true. However, I wish it was a little more. I feel like it needed a bit more, like a better cut scene or memorable music. I feel like I connected a little more with Veritistrasz, that dwarf dragon who sits at the Ruby Pools and tells a sad story of his past and losing his black dragon broodmates. But maybe that’s the point. Dragons are still relevant, so we relate, but Tyr is irrelevant, so even us as players don’t connect with him.
This will be very unpopular, but I don’t like the switch in focus from “Hey! You’re going to the Dragon Isles for the first time as part of the Dragonscale Expedition. We’re going to send you on Indiana Jones type missions and learn document things before anyone else.” to “Uh on, Big Bad ver. 10 is going to destroy the world (again). Gotta save Azeroth!” For me, the main quest line got too dire; the stakes too high. We didn’t need Iridikron messing with timelines or Fyrrak trying to destroy all life. The conflict between primals and flights just for the Dragon Isles would have been plenty. It would have been more compelling (for me) if I had some genuine tension between whether to side with the flights or with the primals. It could have been really cool to make them rep factions, like Aldor and Scryer (or maybe more like Magram vs Gelkis).
Otherwise, I really enjoyed it. I can’t remember anything that I hated. I feel it was pretty smooth, an easy enough picaresque. I would have liked a little more clarity on the fate of the djaradin. We killed two elders, but I have no recollection of the other two.
This entire plot is awful. I wish they had never made a Time dragon, never made time travel. It’s always so badly implemented, no matter what sci Fi or fantasy does it. Some cool things came out of it, but overall it’s just a mess of a plot.
Yeah, that’s the only one I can think of too. I’m sure there may be some quest NPCs we fight. But this expansion is very different dragonwise than the Malygos, or Sartharion or Onyxia, etcs.
In addition to this, there was also the Loam Niffen. Just this miniscule pocket of a new race which to my knowledge came out of nowhere. Their village gets set on fire then extinguished. We do some world quests to help them. But thats it. Once you get rolling with the questline in there, the Niffen dont really matter.
10.1, was not a bad patch in my opinion. It was far better than the Korthia Patch. But it just felt like unrelated filler.
Considering I consumed Dragonflight as what it seemed to have been designed for, a palate cleanser from Shadowlands and Zovaal, I have no complaints or notes.
Oh, that’s a lie, I do have one complaint: they’re sunsetting Khadgar. I gather the character has been around for a while and the actor (Tony Amendola) isn’t getting any younger, but I’ll miss Khadgar…
