What is the add on that I see people using that tells them when and when not to soak?

I don’t know, he was an awesome player always in the top of DPS in m+ and raids lol

Maybe, but that’s not because he doesn’t use add-ons.

Oh the man had mad skills

He was just a natural and overwatch he was in the top whatever it was the percentage of whatever rank that is don’t play that game much

2700 is fairly low though?

Didn’t say it was high or not just responding to a person that said you got 2500 with no add-ons

Addons are a crutch. Things like WA do crazy stuff nowadays. It’s IMHO a big reason Blizzard keeps trying to overcomplicate mechanics, and why they refuse to properly telegraph abilities; they just figure there are addons that tell you, so everyone will use it.

Terrible design IMHO. The game itself should properly telegraph mechanics, not just assume you’re using a third party tool that does it.

Eh for casual play 2700 is ok cause that usually means you got portals / did the content and that’s ok.

absolutely and I’m glad you shared your friend’s feat.

My IRLs say similar things about me, but in reality I am fairly mid

It was. Then they started blocking addons from being able to do certain things they didn’t want them to do for boss fights.

Yep, while still overcomplicating mechanics (IMHO ofc, YMMV) with flashy effects everywhere.

someone from SLC enters the thread

They just make it an arms race between game and add-on developers…

The more complex the game developers make mechanics the more info the add-on developers put in…and we get what we have today…

Now one can debate until the cows come home if they’re a crutch or not, but they sure make my life a lot easier in game…as far as simple QoL stuff to warnings about certain boss mechanics

Agreed, but I think if Blizz didn’t rely on addons they would add that stuff themselves, instead they don’t do it because they don’t have to. Realistically any of those warnings should be handled by the game itself.

While we all have our own thresholds for what we want from the game, that’s from 6 years ago, though, and that “event” is just a matter of time savings. I wonder if you could theoretically just randomly click on the NPCs until you get lucky. No sleuthing required (or have a Paladin in the group and throw on a shield and mog it to any appearance of Truthseeker artifact and let it glow near the mob)

Not anymore. Blizz is targeting such things and blocking addons from tracking them now.

My big thing where I can’t see all that well is having dings and boops etc in order to hear different things.

I think a big factor is accessibility in the game and they seriously need to work on their accessibility options and gameplay design.

Case in point that stupid green leafy boss in Amirdrassil… the Nymue or w/e.

Green on green on green sure it looks on theme but it makes it difficult to dodge things if it blends in with the floor!

Could I get a source on this?

I forget the specifics but I’ve seen them like… private some things in boss mechanics so Weak Auras can’t read it. Basically the ability isn’t exposed to the addon, so you can’t do crazy things with weak auras trivializing it.

Yeah and not make a certain boss fight in a raid green on green on green with a little transparent green… the art team makes me wonder if they even play the game…

It’s not that I don’t believe it, I was just wondering if there was some confirmation somewhere. It’s interesting to me because that’s a pretty significant shift in philosophy.
