What is really wrong with WoW now

^in Legion, I had so much stuff I wanted to do on my main I barely had time to get my two main alts up to speed as well. In BFA, they may as well not exist and the only “content” I have left to do is the alliance story for which I do not have a class at 110 I am interested in leveling. I’d play a Kul Tiran druid for flavor but would have to level and unlock the race and it’s just not compelling enough to do that.

A flawed design philosophy being adhered to by pseudo-artists trying to push their flawed idea of game identity instead of making a good game.

I feel the same way. WOW today feels like it’s just about getting to max level and farming slightly better gear each week, hopin’ RNG favors you with a WF/TF. There really isn’t anything else to do besides that.

Well, I s’pose there’s also Pet Battles… but the Pets kind of fall into the same trap. Battle your Pets to get… slightly better Pets.

The story is pretty bad too. I hate that BFA is basically just MOP 2.0: Blight Edition.

I quit Modern WOW and am now just waiting for Classic. In the mean time, I’ve been playing FFXIV and they have a much better setup when it comes to stuff to do. You can go do end game dungeons and raids if you want, but they also have:

  • Player Housing. You can buy, craft, or earn the furnishings
  • PVP. It’s treated more as a mini-game where the rewards are mainly just for Glamour (FFXIV’s version of Transmog)
  • Gold Saucer. A casino of various mini-games where you can earn Mounts, Glamour, and Pets
  • Triple Triad. A card mini-game that’s part of the Gold Saucer, but you can challenge NPCs throughout the game world and collect new cards from various sources like dungeon/raid bosses.
  • Side Quests that are their own mini-stories that deviate from the Main Story
  • Crafting and Gathering are their own classes with their own Class quests and story
  • Diadem and Eureka are side areas where you group up with other people and farm for rare drops like mounts and Glamour pieces
  • Company Squadron. A group of NPCs you can lead into dungeons or send on missions. You can customize their gear (purely for looks) and pick which class you want them to be.
  • Beast Tribes. Complete quests for friendly Beastmen to build Reputation for mounts and pets.

If WOW implemented things like this, it would go a long way to improving the chances of me comin’ back.

Pets would be neat if there was an mobile app for them that tied into your in-game collection. But that won’t happen ever bc waste of resources for small population who plays wow pokemon :frowning:

Current WoW seems to have only one real aim - to get gear.

Let me change that aim of WoW mngement to “money harvest” from hooked players, they are not even thinking in terms of gameplay/lore, let alone the fun part.

One of the things that contributed to my infuriated feelings and a guarded stance to what they might release in the future is the utter disregard for the Lore, which I as a player value a lot. And the feeling of being laughed at as a player when, simple things we’ve been asking, come with a slap right to the face. Like here this is what you’ve been asking but…

I love wow its story and endgame playstyle. But seriously having my class butchered every year, and a “grinding your sub, no fun” playstyle is too much.

I don’t get it… what was the point of the game before? It was always about getting gear. Even when you were farming your mats for enchants and res gear, it was ultimately in order to enter a raid, you know, to get gear.

They have removed the need for personal interactions and removed any strategy for dungeons instead just turned them into face rolling aoe battles. Im not sure ifthe game could undo these “features” at this point.

The game needs to stop handing players way to bypass content. There should be a progression that has to happen before people can go onto the newest content. There is no motivation to do content from the beginning of these last few expansions. It sounds like a good idea to have the catch up mechanics, but it should be relegated to grinds like artifact weapons are the azerite necklace. They shouldnt be handing out gear to get people caught up to the current patch. I removed the necessity of the previous content.

Getting gear has always been the point of an RPG game. However the RNG on top of RNG for said gear is just retarded.

I’m looking forward to trying out classic , but the OP said he was tired of gear being the end game and if that’s the case I’d say stay clear of classic. Classic endgame is ALL about gear upgrading for the raids without any of the alternatives that exist now

Yes, it always was - but it as much about getting there as getting the gear. It was a journey, an adventure, something you earned after experiencing the expansion as a whole, when an Achievement actually was an achievement. Nowadays you get a toon to 120 and within a day or so you have enough gear to get into raids. Back in WotLK for example, it took time to gear yourself up to be even able to step through the door of ICC. Now its get to a relatively low level, go into the exciting world of BoredFront, get a level 400 piece (seriously?) do world quests, etc and there ya go. Raid level gear without even raiding. So they made gear the thing you get to be able to get more gear.

And then that hamster wheel gets repeated at a slightly higher speed till we wear ourselves out from the tedium.

There is a difference and the result is obvious to me at least. Its an endgame alright.

Leveling is really horrible this xpac. It is super slow, the travel is just as bad as WoD.

The people in charge lack creativity, vision and passion. They’re just clocking in in the morning and then clocking out at night.

It’s time to come up with content that doesn’t involve killing aggro mobs or other players for once.

That simply isn’t true.

The point of a RPG game is the STORY and the player-gameworld interaction, the ability of the player to take on a role in that story. Yes RPGs do have gear and stats but those aren’t the point of the game nor are they necessary components of the game.

If the player isn’t able to participate in the story and is only there to be a silent witness then it isn’t really a RPG.

Well in terms of new styles of content, I don’t know part of why I like SC2 right now is that I like building a base and then defending it from threats.

Warfronts are good to get me that feeling, but when the battle is over, it’s over, I guess I liked the idea of garrisons in theory but in reality they had so many other problems with them.

This is the easiest expansion ever to level alts. Never have I had 10 toons at max and never this early in an expansion. The assaults make it so easy to level. To level from scratch is another matter but from 110-120 is cake.

You play an MMO by yourself, thats the problem.

Why? Because playing with other people and being social is fun for everyone?

Instead of clocking in at morning and clocking out the next morning :stuck_out_tongue:

Idk about vision, I’ve heard some theories that they’ve moved a lot of their developers to other projects and they’re just milking WoW until it’s dry.
