No one really looks at healing Parses like that tho, we all understand you can’t just go my your parse.
you can even use logs to check whos weighing down your raids.
Jimmy still parsing greys? time to find a replacement
Exactly.
What’s funny is logging isn’t new.
It’s used in pretty much all current MMOs
See OP, parsing leads to gatekeeping.
Parsing is when you sweat profusely all over your keyboard while raiding.
What’s the problem with Parsing?
If you’re casual you shouldn’t be in a guild who checks logs anyway, just let people enjoy the game however they want. Is there a term for being sweaty for the Classic Experience, cause some of you guys try really hard to hate on everything.
Mostly all MMOs have logs…
Pretty much this.
You may get checked if trying to join a pug or a gdkp, but can you blame them for wanting those runs to go smooth?
Why would I want to bring a grey or a green parsing player to my pug if I want it to be smooth?
Parsing exists in most Mmos now adays anyway, it’s nothing new.
Theres a guild on us whitemane that literally lives and breathes parses. It’s the only thing they care about. I imagine theres “that guild” on every realm.
P.s its risen
I’m on Whitemane, which guild?
Risen seems dead anyway.
It’s an artificially generated spreadsheet number based on years of theorycrafting and use of excel documents and equations to give you the absolute highest dps possible for a boss fight.
Don’t pay attention to it, it will drive you mad.
Yep, these are all the same things said to back gearscore and the other measuring sticks introduced through the years.
Nothing new here and nothing that is going to change minds this late in the game.
Some people like them, some think it is just another bragging / gatekeeping tool.
I like the idea of friendly competition. I also like being able to trim dead weight. Recount was how we did it back in the day. Of course there are damage and healing meters… But they also track actions per minute, dispels, deaths, rezzes, etc. Those other sets of data are frequently more useful, IMO.
Good luck finding a MMO that doesn’t use it tho lol.
Awesome definition!!
It also helps people who feel some need to be measurably superior to others in order to feel good about themselves with the use of an arbitrary number and measuring system that in no way measures just how well someone plays their class.
It is the product of people who reduce everything in an MMORPG to an arbitrary set of numbers and spreadsheets. They are the soulless dark matter of MMORPGs.
Again, just ignore it and remember if there was a leader board for turd polishing, the people who care about their parses would be watching every YouTube video in order to be at the top of it.
Thanks.
I think it’s fun and serves as a way for me to try and improve my play
Parsing is only an issue when someone swears up and down that healing parses matter. And no, you won’t convince me that those are ever a good idea. There’s too many raids where some healers are spamming through mana (unecessarily) to parse or overheal, while others are parsing lower because they’re correctly conserving mana for things that matter. Not to mention it automatically accounts for the raid taking unnecessary damage to parse high.
Otherwise, DPS parses are just how stacked your raid is for a quick kill. MAYBE you can check who’s doing reasonable DPS on adds, but that’s about it as far as TBC goes.
It compares your dps or hps to the rest of people raiding. It is influenced by many different factors including if you’re doing your rotation correctly, using cd’s, consumables, gear, what group youre in, etc. I wouldn’t take it that seriously most of the time unless you’re in a hardcore guild.
Some people really hate parses lol.
I’d never check someone’s parses before inviting them to my 5 man group. I think a lot of people simply try to improve their parses as a way to stay motivated and have some goals while farming the same content over and over. It’s not to lord their numbers over anyone else.
No one knows when SSC is going to be released. We may be farming kara/gruul/mag for a long time, and for many people it’s already all on farm. Parsing is a way to find a little extra entertainment.
Also, without logs I’d have never known about the absolute madlad feral druid who did 1.9k DPS on mag.
Except in reality this doesn’t actually happen, and this is a meme that casual players use to defend their poor performance that hardcore players don’t actually care about, since you’re not in their guild.
