The sheeple will never agree with this statement but i promise you: mage/healer loses to several of the top 2s comps by default right now.
Now thats not to say you cant ever beat certain comps, but they would need to make numerous critical mistakes to even come close to losing.
I play disc/frost with a 3k exp disc. We were 2500 last season and usually get at least 2400 in the 2s bracket every season since we met in mop. This season the highest cr ive been in 2s is barely 2.2 and the highest mmr weve been is 2450. Boy let me tell you this comp was not meant to be that high. Weve never beaten any good (keyword good) rdruid/wws or rdruid/dhs. Rdruid/dk is possible to beat sometimes but its absurdly difficult. We have no stun so ccing rdruids is mostly a toss up if i ring off fear pathing or presheep them on shift global.
But i digress. The thing with fire/hpal is that you have much better setup potential, but youre going to be taking insane pressure all game in between setups. Your only hope is to get some lucky pies off…or global a healer in dampening off a hoj.
Your comp isnt that bad but mage is not the most well designed class to succeed in the 2s meta rn.
edit: i also believe the number 1 mage in 2s rn plays arcane/rdruid so idk. Ive qd into him and its very interesting. Not sure if he only plays arcane or what.
