It’s boring. It put me to sleep multiple times when I was ranking and I’d accidently AFK out (granted my sleep while ranking was extremely bad - like 1-2 hours a night for 4 days in a row). I will queue during AV weekend because the alliance do better so that makes the battleground more fun. With that being said, it is more fun playing horde than alliance the majority of the time because the horde win.
The games where the alliance actually try to win, rather than farm HKs at SH are much more fun.
Agree with Misadventure, but would qualify it more. AV weekend games are fun. During non AV weekend games, neither team is exactly bringing it from the skill perspective. Horde try harder, but it is still boring. Best games are reserved for when good Alliance players come back. Those are a lot of fun.
.
And to be clear, I would have fun whether we won or lost on AV weekend just because they are usually good games with skilled players on both sides. I am not honor farming. I just want to have a good time pvping.
AV weekends you see a bit more give and take in the initial battles but the majority of them still end up with horde soft capping SHGY while alliance have not hard capped anything south. At which point it’s just a matter of time before alliance lose.
Yeah. Don’t even getting me started on the premades, that not only roll over you, they then stand on top the GY waiting to erase you the moment you respawn.
I think a teammate’s reaction in one AB summed it up best when we saw it was a PUG.
Yay, we actually get to play now!
We ended up losing, but at least we got to play.
We are well aware of what the current situation is in AV. Your incessant defeatism is duly noted by all the alliance reading your posts.
It’s fun, though I think that has a lot to do with the BG itself.
In my opinion AV is probably the most fun BG, regardless of winning or losing, due to its size and interactiveness. There is a lot to do: fighting other players, fighting NPCs, trying to control points, recapturing points, rescuing and protecting your NPCs, resources to collect and turn in that actually have a tangible result in the game itself (not just meaningless numbers). It feels alive, like a living breathing part of the rest of the game world. I never played Vanilla, or anything before BFA as of a couple months before Classic launch last year, but everything I have heard about the original AV with all the NPCs makes it sound so much more interesting and like an actual battle and lament the fact that we got the version we did.
AB can be somewhat interesting, at times, as there are multiple nodes to fight over to control, but still kind of boring (especially when you get stuck babysitting something and mostly calling stuff out as tends to happen to me).
WSG can be fun, but is the most boring battleground as “Capture the Flag” is hardly novel. It is also the most prone to having premades utterly steamroll you in my experience.
I would rank classic battlegrounds as AV > AV > WSG.
They aren’t nearly as fun as they should be. Definitely can’t disagree with that. It is as good as it gets atm which is sad
So play the map from your factions perspective. Your base is insanely easy to defend with just mages hunters. Put 15 there just to slow down the offense which is easy if u keep the rogues out of bunkers because the archers help a ton. Send rest of force south. 5 each tower and get fwgy screw ibgy. When capped move into base. Alliance have a solid base defense setup while horde tends to steer more torwards ibgy defense. Use it.
This doesn’t work, alliance have to hard cap a southern GY without letting SHGY soft cap.
Can you stop with this pretending like Alliance have any good reason to push that hard to win when we steam roll them in the other BGs anyway?
says who? Same way we can take bunkers and bal while keeping you pinned in at shgy then same group of 7ish people go to spgy and rest mount and go. SHGY is not the holy grail by any means and not sure why people insist it is. I’ve done the horde way i just said a few times with people who said ok lets do it and we accomplished exactly that.
It flat out doesn’t work unless horde are also zergging. If alliance lose SHGY they cannot reinforce south so without a hardcapped GY there your magical 25 south turns to 20 then 15 then 10 then 5 then none.
this is why u wait til they aren’t sitting at shgy which happens when spgy caps after a couple mins. Play AV like chess. Let your moves depict your enemies playing right into your own strategy.
Brilliant so once horde has SPGY and is right at DB then alliance can begin their offense…
now you get it!!! Use your side of the map advantage … well … to your advantage
So let horde win, love how awesome that strategy is.
Speaking of arenas I can’t wait for all these account sharing r14s to be exposed as below average players in TBC.
I remember when it was 20 minutes so it’s gone up quite a bit.
Yep, if the premade is good, then the only kills myself or anyone else ever end up getting are the rank 13 warriors who don’t realize their healbots are just a little too far behind them or else they are taking just a little too much burst, and they die. Almost always there’s a few deaths in the premade, and it’s overzealous rank 12-13 warriors. At least the rank 12-13 mages know to rush in and ice block
But some premades seem bad, but sometimes I wonder if they’re brilliant. I call them bad because they play bad: they go the entire match and can’t cap farm, which is held by the horde pug. Why can’t they cap it? Because they stagger in a few at a time. If they would just group up as 10 just outside farm, and rush in with their mages and paladins to go invuln, they would easily overrun it. But sometimes I wonder if instead of bad, that they are actually brilliant. They end up getting a lot more honorable kills by not capping farm. Because once they get the 5cap, most horde back out of spirit rez range, so the only kills are 1 per player, and then the game ends and it could be on to a premade for them. So it might be more advantageous to only hold 4 and farm HK’s. But it’s only the bad seeming premades who can’t take farm
